Default BIA Scale sorcery

Has anyone tried/owned a BIA scale? Does it work? Are they worth it?

I have the tanita ironman scale (now about 10 years old) and a new Withings scale. Do they work... Well, yes and no.

They weigh accurately, yes, but the body fat analyzer is finicky and not good for everyone. Like, for my husband, it tells him he has 5% body fat which is not true. He's thin, but not that lean! However, for me, it was spot on within less than a percentage point for body fat/lean mass - when used as specified. I had it compared to a bod pod twice in 12 weeks. That was with the tanita scale that is grossly wrong for my husband. I have no idea if my withings scale is accurate or not for that. I do know I weigh at least a half pound more on the withings scale daily though!

So, take those gadgets with a grain of salt. They are usually not that accurate.

BIA scales have such a large margin of error they are almost useless.
