Default Is it reasonable?

My weightloss progress thus far: http://tickers.TickerFactory.com/ezt...ASZ/weight.png

We are traveling for a much needed vacation in December. I really, really would love to be a goal for that. Do I even have a chance of that happening? Things were going so well, then I hit that putrid stall! Now that it's moved a bit again...in the right direction that is...I'm hoping that I can get the rest of the weight off before we leave for our vacation.

Honestly, at your height and weight, without being able to exercise, I think it would be better not to set yourself up for a goal deadline. Your body will only lose at the rate it pleases, and since you can't attack the "calories out" end of the equation, only "calories in", I would just set goals based on that. I think setting a goal for following your eating plan until vacation and being mindful of the scale will set you up for success. You may not lose all 17 pounds by vacation, but you will certainly lose some, and will be accountable for things that are under your explicit control.

Shoot for the moon - that way when you miss, at least you'll land among the stars.

Depends on your personality type - but if you won't be really disappointed (to the point of getting off track) by falling short by a few lbs, you can use the December vacation as motivation to keep making good choices until then. You may or may not make it to your goal, but you'll have made good progress to it. The lower you get, the more each pound makes a visible difference, anyway. So shoot for it, as long as you can still celebrate however far you get with your progress!

It seems absolutely reasonable to me. I had a goal to lose x amount of lbs. by the time I had a wedding to attend and I missed the goal by 4 lbs. because I was in a major stall but it still had an impact as a motivating factor. I'm now finding another occasion to motivate me which is not until December and I figure that as long as I'm headed in the right direction, I"ll be happy.

Well, I've got a pinch over 3 months to lose about 17lbs, so I'll try my hardest and see what happens I guess!

You can do it! It'll give you a good push in the right direction! I went home for a bit and put on weight am off on holiday in three weeks and have set a target of getting back under 11 st, if i hadn't i suspect it would have taken me longer to get back on track.
