About how many calories do you consume?

Hi All,

I just thought it would be nice if everyone could post their height, weight, how many days you work out and around the amount of calories you consume. Also if you have bad days. I am trying to get a general consensus on if what I am consuming is accurate and this could help others out as well.

I am 5'3, 150 lbs, workout at the least 5 days a week (45-60 mins plus) and consume about 1500-1600 calories. I have been told my some (including dietician) that I should be eating close to 1800-1900 a day. I am worried that may be too much but on the other hand I hit a plateau, so that could mean I am really not eating enough. I do have an occasional cheat day once a week or every two weeks.

Thanks in advance!

I'm 5'6.5 and maintain on 1800-2000 calories. I don't workout hard. I do 20-30 minutes a day...one day weightlifting the next day elliptical and gazelle...7 days a week.
When I was losing I ate anywhere from 1200-1500. I didn't have cheat days and pretty much stayed on plan while losing.

I'm 5' 7", 218 pounds and I'm eating right around 1600 calories a day. I don't really work out. I do take walks on days when my feet and ankles are not too painful.

I'm 5' 5" and weigh 162 lbs, plus I'm 55 years old (meaning my maintenance calorie requirements are less than someone younger). I eat between 1,200 and 1,400 each day. I work out (weights) between 4 and 6 times each week, plus I walk daily for at least 45 minutes (outside when the weather's good, treadmill otherwise). Recognize, however, that my work-outs are not as difficult as many others, given my age. Put another way, I don't work out at the same intensity as Jillian Michaels!

I don't have any cheat days. If I feel the need for a snack, then I'll throw in a protein bar or something similar, which typically takes me to the upper end of my calorie range for that day.

I'm 5'5" and I weight 175 pounds. I shoot for 1400-1500 calories a day. When I actually stay on plan every day, I lose about a pound a week. I try to exercise 2 or 3 days a week, but I'm pretty bad at it.

This is great. Just goes to show everyone loses/maintains on different levels. This is why it is so hard for me to target calories I should eat to lose.

I'm 5'9 and I weigh 176. I eat 1200-1600 calories a day but I've had days when I've only had 1,000 calories and last night, I had 2,000 calories because I felt completely depleted of energy. I work out every day and my workouts vary from walking, hiking, climbing stairs, and a bit of weights. I've just started kettlebell workouts to increase my muscle mass in hopes of speeding up the metabolism. I"m 42 btw.

I'm 5'6, 150ish lbs, 25 years old. I work out a lot, lots of hiking, walking, and recently getting back into weight training type stuff. I'd say on average its about 1500, with spike days here and there for when I do day hikes. I also give myself one meal off per week so I don't get too crazy :p

5'5" - 139.4 lbs this AM - 1600 calories on average

I do weight training about 3-4 days a week, just started running again (about 3 days a week) and I am on my feet all day long if I'm at work. So sometimes, when I do a little more, I tend to eat more. If I'm off from work or don't feel like working out, I usually eat a little less.

Trail Runner 07-08-2013 11:27 AM

I am 5'-5" and currently 148 pounds.

I am trying to lose right now, and am attempting to keep my net calories around 1400. That doesn't necessarily mean I'm eating 1400 calories a day. I'm very active and always add back in my exercise calories.

I bike commute to work (~31-32 mile round trip) a few days a week and on those days I eat a lot more. So I'll consume 2400 calories, but I've burned around 1000+ from getting to/from work.

Today, I drove to work and it's a rest/recovery day for me, so I'll only eat around 1500-1600 calories. If I try to go too low on days that I don't exercise, otherwise I end up wanting to gnaw my arm off. I personally don't like to eat the exact same amount of calories every day. If I run 5 miles, I'll add back in those calories. For me it's easier to adjust according to what I did that day, especially since it varies a lot.

I'm 5'3", 25 years old and weigh ~115lbs. I'm trying to shed a few so I'm losing on 1400-1600 calories, but I can maintain 112 on 2000+ I might actually increase my calories because I'm losing a bit too quickly I think.

I workout 6-7 days a week. 2-3 of those times are weight training.

Pink Hurricane 07-08-2013 11:43 AM

I'm 5'5" 249lbs and eat anywhere from 1400-1700 calories in a given day depending on how much exercise I have done and that is for me to lose weight.

Buffinlovin 07-08-2013 01:50 PM

I'm 5'2, 207.9 lbs and I eat 1200 calories a day. On days I exercise, I try not to use those additional calories but don't beat myself up if I do. I think of it like a cushion in case I want to eat something that I wouldn't normally eat on plan. I work out 2-3 times a week for an hour on the elliptical, and about 2-3 times a week walking for about 30-60 min at around 2mph. I see upticks in my weight occasionally, but on average I'm seeing about a 1lb-2lb weight loss per week.

Arrwillia 07-08-2013 02:14 PM

I'm a little over 5'7 and currently weigh 187. I've been tracking calories and exercise with myfitnesspal. I run 4 days a week, 2.5-5 miles per run and I also spend 4 hrs/wk mowing my yard (1.3 acres...yeah). On days when I mow and run I eat around 1600-1800 calories. I stick closer to 1200 on non exercise days. So far I'm down 18 lbs in 12 wks.
