Hi all I have a question regarding weight loss and sleep. I noticed that when I begin to eat well and start losing some weight that my sleep is different. I dont sleep well at all...it gets real choppy and I dont sleep much. Anyone else find this? Thanks
I second lunarsongbird, been sleeping much better lately I'm not sure why you're not... Maybe you can talk to your doctor and get some sleeping pills to help you sleep.
Years ago, my dad lost 75lbs fairly quickly (about 8 months) and he found he had a hard time sleeping. He was running 5-10 miles a day even. He basically found that his body was burning the fat as energy, and was overall working so efficiently that he wasn't needing as much sleep.
That being said, if you're not getting into good deep sleep, then I'd talk to your doc because you do need that deep deep sleep.

you are not get proper sleep because you are not eating enough at night ,
try to eat something which will feel you fuller and then you will get proper sleep !!
I find that any major diet change, messes my sleep up for a while. At some point I adjust. So I suspect if you keep eating the way you are, eventually your body will catch up. At the same time, if you go off plan, you may also find sleep disturbances (too much or too little).
I take melatonin every night to help me sleep. It absolutely works wonders for me. Everyone is different, but it really has improved my quality of life.
My mom recently lost a lot of weight pretty quickly and the same thing has happened to her. she'll wake up at 4 a.m. and not be able to go back to sleep. I don't know if the two things are related or not, though. If it's affecting your life (like you have trouble during the day or don't feel well) then you should go to a doctor or try something that the previous posters have suggested.
I attribute my lack of ability to sleep well to my age(50). I'm sure there are all kinds of crazy hormones that make it difficult to sleep through the night. Melatonin seems to upset my stomach so I take it infrequently. I can get to sleep with no difficulty, but often wake up anywhere from 2am to 4am and may or may not fall back asleep. It sucks.
I am sleeping so much better. And I wake up feeling refreshed rather than tired and achy like I used to. I noticed that affect after losing just 10 pounds.
I can even sleep while hungry. Thankfully, there are two things I like more than eating: sleeping (and drinking).
I sleep much better now that I am on a diet plan. I don't know if it's the hour a day exercise that tuckers me out or it's the good food I put in my system (i.e. no alcohol or snack foods prior to bed).
I take medicine at 11pm and 5am so I do have interrupted sleep via my alarm but I think if I didn't, I'd easily sleep 7-8 hours a night which would be like heaven to me!
