I haven't experienced any problems with birth control and weight. Although, because weight loss has been very slow for me, I often wonder would it be the birth control. I don't know if this is the reason or just that I'm not so strict with my eating. It probably is just down to not being strict on eating. As far as gains, I haven't experienced this.
Everyone is different. I know people who have gained a lot of weight when they went on birth control and then others, most other people I know, it didn't effect their weight. These would just be people not trying to lose weight, ordinary people.
I personally gained 20lbs in about 5 months without any changes to my diet. the only change was BC. it also made me extremely hormonal and crazy, so I stopped taking it.
I also experience weight gain and depression when on the pill, so I don't take it. I'm not sure if the weight gain is from the hormones or the depression, but either way it isn't good for me.
Additionally, I found out that I have a clotting disorder (factor v leiden) and birth control pills increase the risk of developing abnormal blood clots - so the pill is a definite no go for me now.
I gained somewhere between 10 and 20 lbs when I went on the pill. I think many people do but I'm sure it depends which pill you're on.
Another question: does weight loss become easier or do you lose any weight when you go off the pill again? Like I said, I gained a bit and am planning to stop with the pill soon.. Kind of hoping it will have a positive effect on my weight!
Last fall I mentioned to my dr that I had been trying to lose weight and there wasn't any progress and she switched me from Seasonale to LoSeasonique, which is a low dose pill and since then I've been able to lose weight. Maybe discuss with your dr some other pill possibilities?

Wow, I never thought about this! I only was at the doctor last Wednesday to get my prescription (which I went and got all 6 months together yesterday). I should of mentioned it to her. I have no idea what dosage mine is on. I might mention it next time around...in 6 months!
No change, really. I do get less hungry the week before my period and am more in control then. When I haven't been on the pill, I have a very hard time with being very hungry the week before my period.
