Arrow What do you consider "thin/skinny"? A spinoff.

I have been thinking about this ever since the "what do you consider fat" thread from a couple weeks ago.

So, what is considered thin or skinny, in YOUR mind? I'm not talkin' too skinny, like underweight, emaciated, that kind of thing, but just thin. Or if you don't like the word thin or skinny, let's say "ideal".

Is there a certain pant size? Waist size? Weight to height balance? BMI? Body fat %? A certain look? For yourself, what's your gauge?

Curious. Obviously it is totally subjective just like what we consider fat, for ourselves. But I really want to know what perceptions are out there!

I always wanted to get down to the single digits in size. The closest I've been is a 14. I'm not sure if it would be my ideal to be an 8 or less but I'd definitely consider myself skinny!

I would love to be a size 6 again, but would easily settle for 8. Because of my frame, a 10 on me looks pudgy---that's the size when my cheeks start getting too round. A 12 is clearly overweight on me. I'm a 14 now and look absolutely obese in photographs. I don't carry my weight well at all. I haven't seen the insides of my size 6 pants since 2006, so I don't think I'll ever see it again, but I think an 8 is doable if I concentrate and not fall off the wagon.

I agree with size 8.

Personally I would be happy being a 12... but I wouldn't consider myself "thin"

I wonder if I even know any more. I see statuses of people lamenting their 'fatness' at weights I consider ideal. I do think it's more about shape than straight-up size. I also know you look AMAZING in your avatar, Stephanie.

I guess my answer is that I no longer find the terms helpful. I would certainly never use them to compliment someone. I prefer just to say someone looks good, or hot, or incredible. But to be fair, I don't even think that is dictated by size.

Thin to me is being able to wear things without what I call "bleugh" showing, and without shape-wear being an absolute necessity for certain garments to look good. *thumbs up*

I am soooo skewed. I constantly look at people who claim they're 30lbs overweight and think theyre perfect.

Thin for me? I don't know. By virtue of height and frame, I'm always going to be big. What I'm hoping for is an extra large, no love handles and to crack the 200s, even if I only get to 199.

Thin on my frame means very visible collar bones, slight gap between thighs, very toned upper arms and not extra fat/skin along my bra-line.

I am VERY shot and VERY curvy, so it takes only the slightest misproportion to make me look chubby.

I always thought I'd be happy with a size, but knowing how vanity sizing works takes away from that. I wear 2p-4p and XS/S in my favorite women's brand. I wear M in Juniors.

I'm also going to add that I don't know what thin is for *me* because I have never been thin. I've been obese my entire life. I'll tell you when I get there! lol

I can't answer this question for my self. I originally thought A 12 would be ideal for my self, but here I am and I need to go lower. Thinking a 6 is ideal, but am working toward an 8. On top of the ideal BMI...around 140 for me I think.

When I think " ideal" for other people I always think healthy and toned. A small amount of fat, but mostly a healthy lightly muscular shape....I don't know....it so hard to say since every ones body type is different.

i am perfectly happy at a size 10, around 155 lbs. i dont think im "thin" at that weight, but on my frame with my height i feel completely normal.

i consider a size 8 or below to be "thin". obviously a LOT of that depends on height and body composition. im sure there are some size 8 girls who look very different than what i picture a size 8 to be in my mind. i also think of weighing below 140 as being thin.

my expectations of myself have really changed. i dont want to be a size 2 again, i dont want to weigh 112 (which i did until i got pregnant). im not saying that there arent people who weigh that much/wear that size who look AMAZING (i looked sickly), but having a baby changed my body and as i get older my idealistic body type for myself changed. id love to be an 8 but i dont want to get any smaller than that. ill settle for a 10 no problems!

Depends what looks good on you! Many people want to be size x or a certain number on the scale because it sounds good in their head or at one point they were that size and looked good. Thin to me is what I look like, not so much the scale or pants size. Did I rid myself of the excess fat? Am I tone? Height and weight proportionate is good, but it's not always accurate if you're very muscular....or that muscle is replaced with fat instead =) A combination of them all I suppose is best.

Well, I am 5'6" with an hourglass figure.

To consider myself "thin" I would say weight around my goal 130-135, size 6.

To consider myself "normal" I would say weight around 150, size 9-10.
