If it's typical behavior for you to obsess over your weight when you own a scale, then don't put yourself through the frustration of having one. Maybe keep track of your measurements first? Can you weigh yourself at your doctor's office or a gym?

I'll tell you my experience..

I bought one and now I weigh myself EVERYDAY sometimes twice a day and all it's doing is depressing me because I'm not losing fast enough or I gain instead of lose. And I cant stop. I kind of wish I dont have one...

WIll you be counting calories? It's easy to overeat even health food (maybe more so because they are healthy).

I think tracking something is important - if you track your calories strictly there is less of a need for a scale. If you are just "eating healthy" you might need a scale to see if its working. But you could always use one at a nearby gym or friends house or something.

A scale is not needed. You can track your progress through pictures and measurements.

I have been counting calories, and I'm keeping a food diary. And yeah, I know I'd obsess too..

I think the best thing for me would be to weigh myself on a friends scale sometime later on and just calorie count and hope clothes loosen up for now

If the number is going to drive you crazy then don't buy one. You will know when you are losing weight.

It sounds like perhaps just buying (if you don't have one already) a tape measure and tracking that way may be the best thing for you. This way you can make sure you are losing, but you don't have the scale issue. And pics, like JohnP said.

Personally I need the scale -- this is because if I don't weigh myself I start slacking and I start gaining. This has happened to me EVERY time I stop weighing myself on a regular basis. This is not something that everyone needs though. For some it's detrimental to their weight loss. You know yourself better than anyone, if you know it will mess with you, don't get one!

you live in seoul? me too! are you ready for the intense summer weather that is slowly creeping up??

but anyways, maybe you can track by using measurements instead? like other people mentioned, if you get obsessed with the number, then the scale might not be a good idea/option.

I weigh myself most days and it helps keep me on track without frustrating me (usually). In your situation, it sounds like a scale would only stress you out. If you're eating healthier and/or being more active and you can tell my your clothing getting looser, that's great!

Yeah I live in Seoul! I hate this humidity ㅠㅜ
And yeah, I've decided not to buy one. And just go by measurements and clothing sizes

Oh man, Seoul! I could eat BBQ and Korean Pizza Hut every day forever, I know I'd probably get huge living there.

Don't get a scale until you've lost a lot of weight and are nearing goal...it's very freeing not to feel anxiety about waking up somewhere other than your house and not having access to your scale.
