I've noticed the same thing but I've come to accept that bodies are such different packages that it works that way sometimes. I'm in a 10, sometimes 12 and I feel like I should be consistently in a 10 and not have it be as snug as it is, but it is what it is. I can blame my apple shape and wider hips for it, not so much my weight overall. Somebody at my height/weight with a more even distribution of fat and not such wide hips could probalby squeeze into an 8. Not fair but what is? And anyway, I make my 10s look good!

I'm with the others who say who cares what the tag says. I care more about how I look and feel than what size jeans I have to buy. I started off wanting to be a size 8, but if I get to the point where I'm happy with my body and ready to stop losing, I won't cry if I'm still in a size 10.

I am kinda giving up on jeans for now, because I think they make me look like a barrel....lol
I feel your pain! My legs were fit for size 10 pants loooong before my gut was! And inevitably it won't be long before the only thing on me my current jeans fit is my stomach. I wish I was brave enough for leggings. My legs are looking good but they've been so chunky for so long that I'm still self concious about wearing tighter stuff like that.

Fromthebox: I know it's almost impossible to try and predict clothing size by weight, but FWIW I'm your height and at about 144 lbs I'm a solid 8 in pants. I carry my weight in upper body: large boobs, broad shoulders, muscular in general. So we may have similar body type as well.

I'm 171 and in a 12,14 mostly a 14. Or 32. I'm top heavy so I wear large tops.

I feel like I should be in a smaller size. Or more in a 12!

I am 260-270ish, 5'4" and I wear a size 18. I can wear a size 18 down to 245 pounds and in the 230s-ish, I can fit into a 16. Down in the 220s-2teens I fit into a size 14. These are Old Navy sizes, where I usually get my jeans. I can probably go up or down depending upon the brand (Gap tends to run a little bit smaller, so I am probably a 20 in that).
