NSV - bloodwork!!!
We have a health fair every October at work and I always sign up for the free cholesterol screening. Historically, despite eating butter and bacon and burgers and cheese (ideally all together!!!) my numbers have been fine - not low but well in the healthy range. They've creeped up a bit the last couple years but still in the healthy range. Except last year where almost all were just barely to the wrong side of "healthy" - not far in to the danger zone but still...
Last year's numbers were one of the things that finally kicked my butt in to gear to get serious about eating healthy.
Yesterday was the Health Fair and my numbers were great!!! I'll spare you the complete panel but I went from a TC:HDL (that's all your cholesterol to HDL cholesterol ration kinda a quick snapshot of your blood's cholesterol health.)
You want something less than 4.5. I've usually been around 4. Last year I was 4.8 - like I said, just a bit over the edge.
This year I was 2.8!!!
This makes me soooo happy. Not just because it is proof that my lifestyle change is worth it but because I'm currently eating foods I love and know I can keep this way of eating up for the rest of my life. If my numbers were still high I'm not sure I could make further lifestyle changes to bring them down - not permanent changes anyway. But the changes I've made in the last year are ones I know I can maintain.
I am sooo happy!!!
