Unhappy At my wits end!!

I am new, so hello. I have read through many posts and there is lots of support out there and that is what I need. Here is my problem....

I had a baby in Dec/08 (almost a year ago) and I gained about 35lbs and I have lost only about 15lbs. I did Weight Watchers and worked out 3 days a week a year before I pregnant and lost about 23lbs. I have been doing Weight Watchers since Feb/09 and got the okay to work out in April and I having full tilt since and nothing and changed. Here is my schedule...

1 hr kickboxing once a week
30 min cardio 5 days a week
30 min strength training 4 days a week.

I hired a trainer to set out my training session and I feel stronger and I have lost some inches, but I am still at the same weight. I drink probably close to 2L of water a day and don't eat junk. Lots of veggies, fibre rich foods and lean protein.

I am just so frustrated b/c I am working my butt off and eating 3 meals a day with 2 snacks (I try to eat every 3 hrs) and nothing has changed. I have to go back to work in 2 months and none of my clothes fit yet. Any suggestions?

do you know much about how many calories you're eating? calories and portions can mess you up even if you're eating healthy things.

I am doing Weight Watchers and I am allowed 26 points a day. I found it worked so well before I had the baby (I lost about 23lbs in 3-4mons). Every food has a point value based on calories, fat & fibre, so an egg for example is 2 pts.

Pumkin--have you had your thyroid checked? I am hypothyroid and learned that many women become hypothyroid during their pregnancies. Just a thought....

I haven't had my thyroid checked, but I think maybe it is time to make a doctors appt and ask some questions and ask for that to be tested. No one has mentioned that before...thanks jrmohr!!

No problem, Pumkin. After I was diagnosed (I sked the doctor about it because I wasn't losing weight the way I had before), I found it that it is a pretty common issue. Good luck!

Cheers,

J

Are you doing core or flex?

WW works, but like all programs, you have to follow the rules.

I do much better on flex, core is to easy to under estimate what you're eating.

Track your food, every lick bite and taste, get a scale, weigh it, go back and re read the stuff they give you.

It really does work, unless, like me you get lax, and slack off.

Have you re-taken the points quiz? Maybe you are eating too many points per day, I am allowed 26 points and I weigh quite a bit more than you, are you nursing?

I am doing the flex, I found it was too hard to follow all the food on the core and I would overeat. I am not nursing as I had no milk and I actually had my WW leader check my points and she said 26 it is.

I was thinking of trying the Slimfast deal (shake for breakfast and lunch and snacks inbetween) and then a regular supper. My only fear is once I get to my goal and eat like a normal person, I will gain it all back.

How tall are you? IT seems like youwork out a lot it averages to be about 5 1/2 hours per week. I am not all that familiar with WW but are you eating enough, are you eating to much or too less? Sometime depending on how active you are calories may need to be changed. Good luck

I am 5'6 and I am wondering if maybe I am not eating enought protein? My kickboxing is pretty intense, but that is only 1 hour a week. My strength and cardio has me sweating and beat red by the end, but I can recover in a couple of minutes. I usually try and have some protein after a workout (yogurt, cheese, or hardboiled egg) to help my muscles recover, but maybe I need to check into a dietian also.

Hope you can get it figured out. Sounds like you are doing things right -- maybe you could talk to WW about lowering your points -- that might help.

Thank-you all for you help and advice, it truly means a lot!! One question for you....if I was to try and just count calories, where do I go to find out my limit? I am 5'6, 181lbs and want to be at 150lbs?
