Default Need some help!

Does anyone know of a website that offers restaurant style food information? Like for instance, if you eat Beef & Broccoli at a chinese restaurant... ? Or if you have a steak & potato from a steakhouse?

I'm trying to get an idea how much calories, etc my lunch has. The chinese restaurant it came from is not a chain & doesn't have any kind of website.

I chose from their "diet menu" - steamed shrimp & veggies (not eating the rice!) and the veggies are broccoli, snap peas, mushrooms, watercress, carrots... (and those itty bitty things that look like corn....?) Also having a little egg-drop soup.

Help a Chick out, please?

This site is only for people on Weight Watchers, but there is Dottie's Weight Loss Zone (www.dwlz.com) ... but you are a calorie counter right? She doesn't list calories =( Does Calorie King have any of that?

I don't have one, but your lunch doesn't sound terrible to me. Was there any kind of sauce? In Roni's (of weightwatchen.com) blog, she lists a meal of hers as Chinese steamed chicken and shrimp w/ a few bites of fried rice and a fortune cookie as 5 points. Not sure if that will help you.

I think you'll just have to guesstimate by adding up the calories of the individual foods and then tacking on some extra for whatever oil and cornstarch was used in the preparation.

Ugh. that's what I was TRYING to avoid .... I mean, I use FitDay fairly religiously, but it is foods such as this that I HATE fitday, because it's so hard to get it ALL input.... therefore, UGH.

try dietfacts.com. I just went there and found a beef and broccoli meal listed for like panda express. I just typed in the search part, "chinese beef and broccoli" and it gave me a few choices to choose from. Try that.

I did use a packet of soy sauce.... I think the worst thing about that is the sodium... and it is loaded with sodium.

But thanks for that link... I will CIO.

I run into the same problems fairly often. I never eat at chain restuarants (aside from late night drunken trips to McDonalds ) and so I always have to guesstimate my calories. Because I'm maintaining, I just try to make smart choices, log the food and not worry too much about the calorie counts.

Do the best you can. The danger of chinese food is in the sauces.

You're welcome. Someone else posted it on another thread somewhere here just the other day. I'm glad I read it and put the link in my favorites. Hope it helps!!! But it does sound like you made a good, healthy chinese choice. If it were me, it'd be a heaping mound of fried rice, a heaping mound of terriyaki chicken and very few veggies.

My "steamed" veggies (well the ones I ATE...) include:

broccoli
green bell peppers
mushrooms
watercress (is that a veggie? I think it is....)
carrots
and those little tiny corn-on-a-cob looking thingys (what ARE those?)

I didn't eat the onions and something else that was long & thin & didn't have much of a taste....

and of course I ate the steamed shrimp! YUM!

I threw the rice away (don't like it anyway) and used a packet of soy sauce, and had half a cup of the egg-drop soup.

So I guess that can't be TOO bad! (And it was YUUUMMMMMMYYYY!!!!!)

That sounds perfectly fine to me. I can't imagine that you ate more than 350 calories. Just drink a lot of water to wash out all of the sodium .

I always drink a lot of water, regardless!

I just wonder about the calories & sodium content in that egg-drop soup....???
