Default What if you're not veggie-challenged, but fruit-challenged?

I love veggies and will eat literally any vegetable except for cooked spinach (slimy!), but I have a real problem with fruits. I love the taste of all fruits (except grapefruit, gah), and have no problem eating fruit in other things, but the textures of fruits really bothers me. Apples make my teeth feel dry and filmy, biting into plums is unpleasant, bananas make me gag, the little sharp ridges on blueberries and the seeds in strawberries freak me out, I can't stand my teeth scraping on the pits of cherries. The white coating on oranges and such is so sticky. The list goes on...

I've been trying to just slice things up and prepare things in ways that are easy for me to deal with, but I'd love to be able to eat more fruit. Any tips?

Honestly I think fruit is overrated anyway. I love it, and I do think it has a place in a balanced diet, but I think most people eat too much of it. Most fruit is very high in carbohydrates which spikes insulin which suppresses leptin which leads us to overeat which leads to weight gain. Rinse and repeat. What I'd do if I were you is look for any nutritional deficiencies in your diet and look for vegetables that have that. For example, many fruits are high in vitamin C- but so is broccoli.

But if you really want to eat more fruit- what about smoothies?

I love all fruits. But... there's something about biting into an apple that still has the skin. It feels super unpleasant and uncomfortable lol and I've never been able to quite put my finger on why that happens to me. Just the thought of biting into an apple with skin intact gives me the chills. So I end up peeling and copping them up, throw some cinnamon on there, and microwave. A simple apple cinnamon treat. It changes the texture to tender and just as juicy. Maybe you can try that with apples?

Fruit is OK, but I could live without it, and do, mostly. I like an orange if someone else peels it for me. I like bananas, but with diabetes, the sugar is too high. If I'm going to eat a certain amount of food each day, there's a lot other things I'd rather have than fruit.

Slytheringal's suggestion for apples sounds good. I might even try that. Cinnamon is very healthy. And a fruit smoothie would give you all the benefits of the fruit and also the taste.

Thanks for the tips, guys! I'll try making some smoothies. I've had some points left over lately, so this seems like a good time to experiment!
