Thanks everyone for all the kind wishes and warm thoughts. I didn't sleep at all Saturday night. We went to the armory Sunday morning and had about 45 minutes to spend with the men. Even with everything we have been through with Dan, he is still my baby and I already miss him terribly. After formation, we got to hug them as they got on the bus. Dan broke down(they all did). He is much more tender hearted than he wants anyone to know.
Even as hard as it was saying goodbye to him, it was terribly heartbreaking watching the dads saying goodbye to their children, and the husbands to their wives. The children who were 7 years old and up were the hardest. They were old enough to know what was happening and they were so upset.
There was one soldier who is a customer of ours who didn't have anyone there to see him off. I felt soooo bad for him. He asked me if he could have a hug and of course I started bawling again.
There was a state police, county deputy, city police department escort through town and onto the interstate. The families all followed behind the buses through town. The streets were lined with people holding signs and flags and cheering. It made me feel proud.
They got to the base in Texas last night around 9:30. They will be there for several weeks receiving additional training. When they get to Iraq, they will be outside of Bahgdad on the road leading to Syria. Dan will be a humvee driver for his executive officer(2nd Lt.) I had to laugh when he told me his assignment. I asked him if they had speed limits over there. LOL
I slept better last night than I have in weeks. I think the release of the day finally arriving was a relief.
Ramona, I'm sitting here boo-hooing over reading your letter. I'm relieved to hear some of the stress is gone now and your sleeping better, but saddened to hear about all of the people that had to leave their family and loved ones. Know that Dan will be in my daily prayers.
Ramona I understand that it is hard for you to let Dan go even thought he has given you trouble in the past. He is a part of you, he is from your womb how could you not hurt when you had to say good bye. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Cheryl it is nice to see that you checked in. Sometimes being busy is a good thing. Just don't forget us.
I was at the doctors this afternoon. I had some perscriptions that needed refilling and I wanted the doc to check out a lump that I have on my groin. It is where they put the probes in, to operate on my heart. I got this lump shortly after. He thought that it was a cyst and he is going to take it out the end of the month.
Larry was suppose to come home tomorrow night but he will be staying at least an extra day. He said that it was 80 out and he is scooting around in a rented yellow mustang. Likey guy. Oh yeah he said that he won something today at the hotel. He put his name in for a draw. The guy at the desk said that they didn't do last months draw yet so he would do it then. He pulled out Larry's business card. He won a leather briefcase. He said that it is nicer than the one he has so he was happy.
Sherry I hope that you are feeling better. I am concerned about you when you don't post. Let us know how you are doing.
Larry is just calling now....I hope that you all had a great day.
Ramona-I can't imagine the feelings that you are going through. I will pray daily for Dan.
Dee-Is the surgery an outpatient thing? That's wierd that you would get a cyst at the same place that the tube goes in. Is this a common thing that happens?
Cheryl-Good to hear from you!!
Debbie-Congratulations on another 2 lb loss! You are doing great!
Sherry-Are you off the pred now??
Gayle-Have you done another painting yet?
Doni and Titan-Hope you both had great birthdays!
Did I miss anyone. If I did, just know it is early and I'm in a hurry!
I didn't post yesterday because I know you all get so tired of hearing me complain about being sick!!!! If you're sick of hearing me whine...Please just skip over this part of my post!
I went back yesterday for another Xray.My 3rd one! I still have Pleurisy and the Pneumonia is worse! She asked if I was ready to go in the hospital. I BEGGED her to give me another option. She finally gave in and said for me to stay home from work a few days and rest so I could get well.I also got another shot and another kind of medicine.(Which makes me so sleepy )
I'm really depressed because I had gained 5 lbs! I worked so hard to get down to 158 lbs. now I'm back up to 163. I'm back on WW..so maybe I'll get it back off soon.
Dee,
Thanks for the sweet letter.I'm sorry I didn't post and let you know.I know how sickening it gets to hear me whine! I'm also worried about you and the lump!!! PLEASE take care!! Let us know when he takes it out and what the Dr. says.Love you!
Ramona,
I also cried when I read your post.We have no idea what's it's like to say bye to our child when they are leaving for something such as this.I will pray for him & your Family everyday. You will get through all this.God will see that you do.We love you Ramona!!
Debbie,
WTG on another 2 lbs. gone!!! You are truly doing awesome!!! I'm so proud of you girl!!! Keep it up!!
To Everyone else......Hello & Hope you're having a great OP day!
Sherry, I'm so worried about you. I know you don't want to go to the hospital, no one does. BUT, if that is what it takes to get well, then we floozies will come to Nashville and drag your skinny little butt to the hospital!!!!
Seriously, if you aren't better in a few days, just do what the doctor says!
Love you,
Ramona
Sher: YOU GET YOUR LITTLE BUTT IN BED NOW!!!! ASAP!!!!! DO NOT LIFT ANOTHER FINGER IN THAT HOUSE!!!!!
I am sure Wayne and the boys will gladly do anything that needs to be done around there. After all, how much work can you get done while laying in the hospital? I personally think you need to go run you a big bathful of good smelling bubbles and soak for awhile. Wrap up in a warm cozy robe, then hit the bed or sofa with a hot mug of cocoa or tea. Watching tv will help relax you...Jerry Springer is on later today
PLEASE, PLEASE!!! Do what the Doctor says!! We love you and care about you, and NO, we are not tired of hearing you whine! If you need anything at all, just shout, ok?
THANK YOU ALL so much for the well wishes and sweet posts. Also, Thanks for being concerned about me.
I HAVE layed around since Monday and haven't done anything!! Can you believe it?! I think what the Dr. said to me on Monday really scared me so I decided to REST!! I do feel better today. It will just take a while to get completely well.
I'm going back to work tomorrow.I feel like 3 days of resting helped.
I hope everyone is having a great OP day.I was truly going to get back on WW Monday but I haven't yet.Hopefully next Monday I will.I don't want to gain what I have lost back.
Tonight I will continue to rest while watching the CMA Awards.Anyone else watching them?
Ramona--I thought of you and Dan a few days ago when the Delta Diamondbacks were shipping out from Magnolia. When they drove thru Lewisville (where I work) there were all sorts of folks outside waving flags and cheering them on. Be strong.
Sher, glad your better today! Hmmm...wonder if my boy's Trace A., George S. and Keith U. will be on there? I forgot it was tonight, looks like I'm moving the card table to the livingroom so I can paint and watch!!! Steve's gone tonight, so I can drool all I want!!
NICE TO HEAR FROM YA CHERYL! Don't be a stranger!
SUPER JOB DEBBIE!!! Another 2 pounds bites the dust!
I have 15 more days to get all of my craftshow stuff done and the weather is not cooporating! Remind me to never, ever take something on like this when I have less then 2 months to prepare. I'll let you guys know when I update my picture trail, so you can take a look at the stuff and give me your input.
Yeowza! I came by to catch up--and there's no catching up to do!!! How weird is that?
Hope everyone's too busy to write because of wonderful exciting things going on in your lives!
Gayle--didja catch the awards show last night? I stayed up "late" to watch the whole thing. I was sorta pleased w/the outcome, although I wanted Toby Keith & Willie Nelson to win SOMEthing for "Beer for My Horses."
Sherry--hope you're feeling better.
Debbie--congrats on the two pounds!
Hey Ramona, Dee, Titan Dee, Doni, Vicki and Shelley!
Hmmmm.....Jenelle, you lurking out there anywhere?
Cheryl...nope, ended up visiting with some company that arrived and then painted after they left...I had my whole night planned out to drool and paint in front of the TV. I did catch a spot on the radio yesterday explaining where the song "Beer for my horses" originated from. I guess Toby use to be on the rodeo curcuit and after the rodeo, they guys would come up for fellowship and to share a bottle or two...this is one of the phrases that was used by many a cowboy.
Dee, I hope you find out soon what the lump is. Could it just be tissue scarring from the sugery? Keep us updated! Did Larry make it back yet? We should live closer, as much as our husbands are gone all of the time, we could keep each other company.
Shelley: How's the bite on the face? Are you doing the Flex points?
Deb: Are you staying OP? You did really super once before on this plan, this time I see you staying motivated and reaching goal.
Sherry: Have a good day at work, but please try to not over-do it? RIGHT!!
Ramona: Do you mind sharing? What is the name of the boot store? Just curious, I think I found it in the yellow pages on the internet one night, but wasn't for sure.
to all of my other Floozie friends, I hope life is treating you well!!
