Laura - funny you talk about body acceptance - I was talking to my sister about younger girls and their "body confidence" as she calls it. I don't expect anyone to be skinny minnies - I certainly am not. But I am astounded at how people dress now a days. Too tight, too clingy and too open clothing when you can't contain the flab is certainly not flattering. One of the places I patronize hired a young girl who is substantially overweight. Last time I saw her she was wearing a very thin spaghetti strap dress that was not flattering at all. The material was paper thin - the backdropped light through the window showed right through the dress. It hugged all of her rolls and worst of all from the back it clearly showed the outline of her very skimpy panties that did not cover a whole bunch of lumpy cellulite. It really was not flattering at all and drew more attention to her than should have been necessary. I am also not a fan of random tattoos all over arms, legs, back, etc. Especially when it looks like 7 people came up to you and slapped you with a tattoo on a random place on your body. I always wonder, what will you think when you are 40? I just don't understand it. I guess that makes me REALLY old !

I hope you get out earlier than 3 today

I started a post on the tablet but the screen kept freezing. I'm not sure I have all the kinks out of it yet. At least it does perform at times

Laura
About a week ago I was flipping through the channels and found the Hallmark Movies and mystery channel. I've gotten in the habit of watching My 600 pound Life. I have some of their emotional struggles, but once they can show the doctor they can control their food and lose the doctor's require weight loss they get weight loss surgery. But even then they have to stay on a very strict diet. To me it sounds like Annie's Keto diet plan, no carbs, no sugar and no carbonated drinks.

Happy
What week you have had dealing with things at the thrift store and at bingo! I know you will be ready for some time alone with the DH. Will you be taking the cats?

Susie
Glad you are jumping back in with both feet so to speak and not to let the gain at Tops do you in. You've worked to hard.

Hello to Annie and Shad

---------
Not much going on today. I did clean up the kitchen this morning and took out the trash. I did go to the gym this afternoon. I've met my 150 minute exercise goal. A total of 199 minutes. Mostly cardio, I do some weight machine too but my fitbit doesn't count that. I meant to weigh in this morning but I didn't think about it so I will do that tomorrow morning.

Hi Everyone,

I am wide awake as I came home around 5 and slept until DH woke me up at 7:30 p.m. to see if i wanted something for dinner.

I need to go to bed shortly because I have a 7:30 a.m. hair appointment....I had to make it at that time because the twin nieces have a Black Belt test/ ceremony at 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. was the only time my hairdresser had since I had to change the original appointment I had made 4 weeks ago.

I didn't find out until last week about the belt test--their mom forgot to tell me and there is no way I would miss it. It is important to those girls that we are there.

I got all the car recalls done and one of them required an oil change so I didn't have to pay for the one that we needed. That was a plus.

I did well on my shopping trip. I bought two new pair of black flats for work/casual at Kohls.

I also did very well at JC Penny and I ended up not taking my slacks to the seamstress to see if they could be taken in because JC Penny had all their Worthington work slacks on clearance (they were $15 each with 20% off) and I was able to find 5 pair in my new size...which is a size 18! I couldn't believe that size fit. I thought I would need a 22 or maybe a 20. The 22 was huge and the 20 would be really baggy in about 7-10 lb loss so I tried the 18 and they fit and look nice.

When I started my weight loss plan on December 26, I was wearing a size 24 an sometimes a 26.

I also found a couple of lighter weight sweaters and two tops on sale and also could use the 20% off with the sale price. My pants are black (3 of them), grey (2 of them) brown (1) and navy (1). I am set for work with dress slacks.

I need to go through my clothes in the next couple of weeks and then I plan to have a yard sale to see if I can sell some of them that are two big. I have a lot of ladies in the area asking me what I'm going to do with my "before weight loss clothes", so I think I would have a good turn out for a yard sale. That could help replace my heavy sweaters that I will l need later on.

Happy: That bingo sounds out of control...it's like Bingo gone wild! Between that and the book price haggling, I think I would walk out and they could all just sort it out. You are a better woman than I am!

Laura: Did you end up getting early dismissal? I haven't watched the show "My Big Fat Fabulous Life".

I think it is one thing to look your best that you can at any way and try to be as healthy as you can but I have been a larger size girl and I know I didn't feel good physically or emotionally. I don't mind being curvy but that is different than being obese.

Ceejay: You have a great work out plan in place. You should be very proud of yourself.

I have decided that I'm going to set a mileage goal for myself for the month of September. I will only count my "exercise" mileage that I get on the treadmill and the bike for this goal. I will complete 150 miles (Ceejay inspired me to go for that number!) of exercise mileage the month of September. That means I need to get just over 6 miles in 6 days a week.

I am going to work up to 180 miles a month in the month of December as 180 lbs is my goal weight. I don't think I will be at 180 lbs by December 31 but I could be close and 180 miles a month will be a goal that stretches me.

Hello to Annie and Shad...I am finally feeling sleepy so I better get to bed.

I most likely will be back on Sunday. Tomorrow is a very full day with hair appt., grocery shopping, belt tests and then taking DH's dad shoe shopping.

Susie
Congratulations on the smaller size. I like the J.C. Penny store. I don't mind the exercise. The American Heart Association recommends 150 minutes of aerobics each week. And I'm trying to build my stamina. I would like to find a healthy food plan that I can adjust to. I like food.

Hello to the rest. Enjoy the week end.

Morning all. It's shaping up to be a lovely day here.

Yesterday bf & I went to breakfast with bf's mom, and then to the grocery store afterwards. We each bought some soda on sale, and we were out of the county, so we avoided the penny per ounce tax where we live. And we alo bought some other items as well. So our greedy county is losing out... I'm hoping to keep cutting back on soda so what I have lasts a longer time, and of course be healthier by drinking plain water, flavored selter water, and iced tea.

Didn't do much else yesterday. We went to the new grocery that opened where the big chain grocery closed a few years ago. For the most part, we were underwhelmed & unimpressed, though they do have a selection of Polish and other European foods. It'll be convenient for quick trips, though we do already have the little Walmart right across the street from this other place for that too.

This morning I did another kettle bell workout, this one focused on the abs. Some of the moves had to be substituted due to my foot (lunge type moves), and others were difficult (hope to improve in future attempts). But it was a good workout.

A friend visiting from out of town is supposed to call late this morning and we'll go to the fest this afternoon. We'll see if it happens. In the meantime, I'm going to get this posted and take a shower & get ready because bf & I will be going to the fest with or without my friend.

I'll get to personals tomorrow. I hope you're all having a good weekend!

Good morning ladies,

Finally had a day to ourselves yesterday. We were going to go on the boat but while it was warm and sunny, winds were predicted at 10 to 15 mph. That makes the water really choppy and it also makes the boat drift and is hard to handle docking and undocking. So instead I suggested to DH that he find some new ATV trails and we can go check out leaf colors as we have several brilliant reds already around here. He found a place an hour's drive north of here in a neighboring county and we had a great ride. It was cool early - in the 50's but quickly warmed up. I just wore clothing I could peel off as the temperatures eased up. We got a trail map and took a ride and stopped at the new place and had a delicious breakfast. We were gone about 3 hours. It's still only a few trees turning - I think this section will be one to turn golden once things start to pop. With the abundance of tree varieties some turn yellow-orange (my favorite), some turn red and you have to keep a vigilant eye once they start to change because the weather (wind and a sudden storm or period of dryness) can make them go from pretty to ugh yellow and moldy black spotty in an instant. Anyway we had a great ride. Came home for a while, DH took a short nap and then we went to the casino for a bit. DH played blackjack and stayed even, I spent my allowance. I then treated him to the buffet for dinner. Came home, did a 3 way call with my sister and Mum and stayed on the telephone way much longer than I wanted to but we all had a good chat - with the three of us at once, it was like having a visit. I have to look at my calendar, thinking perhaps I might make a trip back around the end of next month to be there for my Mom's 91st birthday. She will still expect a party Today I have to go and work at the thrift shop. Don't want to but the regular Monday morning crew NEVER work a holiday. Never ever. In July the 4th was on a Tuesday and they STILL took off on Monday. I said close the store then. The one regular afternoon lady is coming in and I said I'd help her out. But I am working holiday hours 11 - 3 and if they want to come in earlier or stay later they are welcome to it. I have spent enough time these past 2 weeks on this place. DH is going to the casino tonight - he plays in a blackjack tournament on Mondays - only $25 to enter and they give you $300 in chips to play. He is pretty good - so far all weeks but one he has either won his entry fee back or got the top prize of $50 so it doesn't cost anything for him. I will have to figure dinner though as I'll be getting home about an hour before he leaves. I did find some great looking baked chicken recipes but won't have enough time for that.

Laura - my sister lives on the border of two counties and she said the stores in Cook have stockpiled cases of drinks and put them on sale but no one is buying either. This is going to backfire I think. I was surprised when I called my Mom and she had the fan on. It's getting very cool here and she said yesterday and maybe today you are still getting temps in the 90's. I hope you have one more nice day to enjoy yourself.

Ceejay- I like food too so I really "get" your comment I also have started to make a list of foods that will address certain issues like inflammation/arthritis, weight loss, etc. Thing is, I like all these foods - now the challenge is to put them together into a reasonable portion and a menu plan so that I'm not scrambling when I'm hungry to find something to eat. I still can't believe it's been a year already that you retired. Ceejay - no, we will not be taking the cats with us on our getaway even though the hotels much to our surprise are pet friendly. It's a 4 hour drive and I don't think they would like to be in the car that long. I am also afraid that they would get spooked in a different place and try to bolt when we opened the door. I am becoming more comfortable that they will be perfectly fine on their own for 2 days. I will leave lots of extra food and water all around the house for them to hunt out. They LOVE finding food in unexpected places.

Susie - I have always liked JC Penney's clothing for work although I found that I have to be careful ordering online as some of their blouses are sewn very cheaply with barely a seam allowance in them. But they do have cute stuff at reasonable prices. We stopped in the JCP in Duluth to look at appliances and walked past the clothes and I so wanted to take a look but I was with DH so there was no clothes shopping on the agenda Congratulations on fitting into a new lower size! What great fun. And it's pretty cool to need all new clothes because your's don't fit! I hope you were able to attend all the activities you had planned for the weekend. Always busy you are!

Annie - I hope you are doing well this long weekend. I guess you have your counseling session tomorrow? Good luck with that.

Hello Shad what's going on over on your side of the world?

Time for me to get ready - I'd like to do a few things around her before I leave since I obviously didn't get much done yesterday.

Enjoy the day everyone.

It's been a good week thus far. Went to church Sunday and afterwards to sissy's house. She was having her sons and families over Sunday afternoon and wanted me to help. BIL grilled burgers and dogs on the big green egg. Ended up spending the night and went to my nephews house, the one who broke his leg, and did two loads of his laundry. Sis and BIL mowed his lawn. He's doing better but still has a way to go on complete healing.
Decided to add up my calories burned from the fitbit this past week the divide that total by 7 to get a calorie limit for myself. I'm using a diet that is good for the digestion. You can find any thing on the internet.

Happy
I'm looking forward to the leaves changing. I did see a maple tree that was beginning to turn red today on the way home. The air is becoming more brisk too. I love fall. Glad you and dh had a good ride on the ATV.

Laura
Did you have a good time at the fest?

Wednesday, tomorrow is supposed to be my first therapy session. The doc office called and had to reschedule due to a death in the doc's family. My new appt is on the 19th, yet I am on the wait-list for an opening. It is only next week but it will be 4 weeks since all this went down. I really want to talk to the doc. Patience is NOT my virtue.

C has been diagnosed as Bi-polar. Explains a lot, he too is doing counseling. Still so much to work at for me as I am on the fence about things at the moment.

All and all and considering my frame of mind the weekend went ok. Didn't do really much. Did go to visit Cs parents. I made Keto beef stew, rolls, zucchini bread and salad. I ate the salad and stew. We ended up bringing home 110 solid (no holes) bricks, firewood already chopped for the pit fire and sticks for kindling. Going to do a brick walk from the back patio to the shed. It was actually the best visit ever we have had with them. Strange.

Thank you all for the comforting thoughts and prayers. Still in need of them.

Morning all. Fall-like morning out there. I don’t mind, except that the wind is a bit brisk…

Happy – Good to get a real electrician to work on the lights in the shop! == Re your body confidence comment – in general, there’s a very relaxed attitude about what people wear, and you’re absolutely right, it’s often very unflattering and immodest. The girl you described – what made her think that her outfit looked good on her? And it probably wouldn’t have looked good on anyone except the most slender person. And tattoos – it’s gotten to be too much. I do think some are art and that some of the people who do them are really talented artists, but most are nothing special at all. And people cover their bodies with them and are just a distraction that competes with the clothing and the person themselves. I would never want something permanent like that, as I would certainly tire of it after a while. == I did get out of the office a wee bit early. The boss told us at around 2 pm that his boss said we could leave early if we want. I didn’t want to rush out and try to get the 2:24 express train, and didn’t want to take the 2:30 all-stop train. So I left around 2:45 to get to the 3:10 express. == Too bad you didn’t get out on the boat over the weekend, but better safe than sorry, of course. We had gusty winds yesterday, and it’s still windy today. I’m glad you had a nice ATV ride though. I hope you get to enjoy a lot of nice color this fall.

Ceejay – I’ve watched My 600-pound Life, and at least those folks have finally decided to do something about their weight. Unfortunately, they’ve already suffered many medical problems due to their weight and are very immobile. The woman on My Big Fat Fabulous Life seems to have made a deliberate decision to no longer try to lose weight. I fear she’s heading in the direction of 600 pounds. == Good job on exceeding the 150 minute exercise goal!! Sounds like you had a nice weekend with family.

Susie – How was your busy weekend? What a great deal on the slacks at JCP. And on fitting into a smaller size than you expected!! == LOL, I like your description of Happy’s last bingo night – Bingo gone wild.
Annie – I’m sorry the counseling session was postponed. I know you want to get to work addressing your issues with someone. Talking things out with a professional could certainly help! I hope something comes up sooner. Hang in there, and I’ll keep you in my thoughts & prayers. == I know that bi-polar disorder is treatable these days, but it still must be so scary for C and for you. == The brick path out to the shed sounds like a great project. We have one of those Rubbermaid sheds in the back of our yard that was built directly on the ground at the edge of the lawn. I think we should tear out the lawn directly in front of the shed doors and install some paver blocks so the doors don’t get hung up on the grass when we open the doors…

Hello to Shad! How’s the big project going – bathroom, laundry room? I hope you’ve had some time to stop and smell the roses, or whatever nice-smelling flowers you’ve got growing in your garden at the moment.
==
My friend came to the house and he and bf and I went to the fest in the early afternoon. It was nice going at that time in that there weren’t a lot of people crowding the place, but then again, the people watching wasn’t as good. The food was tasty. == My friend, who I knew from our local grocery store from back in my early college days & whom I dated a couple times, hasn’t changed a bit. He’s moved around quite a bit, but is now living in the twin cities, MN. He comes back “home” a few times a year, so it was good to reconnect and see him while he was in.

Otherwise, didn’t do much over the weekend. Yesterday was an overcast, gusty day and it didn’t motivate me to do anything but sloth around. I did some laundry and that was about it.

I left the house for work this morning and noted that the hatch on the suv was left open from the night before. BF had gone to his mom’s house and also to the grocery in the other county to pick up more soda on sale and left the hatch open after he unloaded. I already had the living room blinds closed so I didn’t see it. No harm since it didn’t rain, and no critters in there as far as I could tell, lol.

Short workweek this week, but tomorrow we have a morning meeting with our counterparts from a subsidiary of ours, and then a dinner later on.

Okay, that’s about it. Time to post!

Annie
Bless you and C. My cousin has Bi-polar but she doesn't take all her medicine. I hope C can get the correct dosage. Will continue to send good thought and prayers.

Happy
Hoping a is well with you and family. And that their is no hot spots to put out at the thrift store, shelter, senior citizen's or at bingo.

Laura
Glad to hear that your friends visit went well and that you enjoyed the time at the fest. Has the new season of My Bit Fat Fabulous Life started?

Hi Susie and Shad.

Haven't done much today except go to the gym.
Supposed to get a low as 48 degree's tonight. It is really nice this afternoon.

Hello...

Today is not so bad. Good days and bad days. More good days than bad lately...I am trying to give it to God and let his will be done in this situation. It is all I can do. Hopefully it won't bring me more hurt.

I have remained Keto strong. Down to 160 which is 34 lbs. Sorta want to make this my final goal but am sure it may go lower. I am eating Keto and not skimping. I have been at 160 for about 3 weeks. I really need to try to firm up but don't know if firming flabbiness is even doable. (loose skin) Bat wings, apron.

HAPPY....um, thought you were not volunteering as much or at all in August? THank you my friend for you support.

LAURA...what new classes are at the replex? Also thank you.

CEEGJAY... a year already, seems like just yesterday. Retirement is agreeing with you.

SUSIE...the struggles of WL. You will get your grip on it I am sure of that.

SHAD...how is the hair coming along? Bathroom done yet?

Sorry so short, my mind is scattered lately. Hugs and thank you for all your love, hugs, thoughts and prayers. Always in need.

Hi all,

So much to do, I am overwhelmed. Furnace is not working right, we need a repair call. DH wants basement tidied up before service guy comes. There is not enough time in the universe to get everything done. Yes, I am trying to back off my volunteer stuff - the more I try to push back, the more that pops up. Got an email today that the book lady took a bad fall and cracked 3 ribs. No lifting for her for weeks on end. I will do what I can with books for a few hours but simply can't commit to anything right now. Calgon take me away... far away. But not to Florida. Or Texas. Or anywhere along the gulf or the west coast that is burning up with no water to put out fires. When all is said and done, I like it here and I can adapt to the cold weather. I do know several people in Florida - my cousins are heading to Georgia for a few days. I have friends who have winter places in Florida - they are hoping and praying that there is a miss. I think it's smart - especially after Houston that people are packing up and leaving ahead of time and not clogging the roads and risking getting caught as would have happened in Houston at the last minute. Say what you will, I think it was smart not to evacuate at the last minute. Water can flood quickly at a moment's notice and what do you do when people are bumper to bumper traffic and a road becomes a lake with no way to rescue people. Some folks just like to call others names and pass judgements - they are the real dummies and idiots. Especially when they have no clue about running things. Anyway - I am glad that I am far from this - 2 years ago we had wildfires up this way - always a danger because things are very dry here even though we have lakes all around us. And I was petrified that we could face that danger. My heart goes out to all who are suffering or worried right now. Especially because those areas are so densely populated and sometimes there is no where to run...

Anne - I'm very sorry that your counseling session got rescheduled - especially when you really need it. I think there is a shortage of all sorts of medical staff - takes so long to get seen that by the time you get an appointment - you no longer have the issue. I hope you can find a way to deal with things in the interim. I suppose it's good that they have a diagnosis with C but boy or boy - from all I have heard bipolar is a tough one. Seems so hard to get the meds right and I guess there are unpleasant side effects too so not everyone wants to take their medication as they need it. My heart and prayers to you I also hope you can find inner strength to deal with your own challenges. Good that you are focusing on your eating plan - control what you can at this moment in your life. I know you are not a fan of exercise of any sort but I would encourage you to find something that you can tollerate - even if it is walks after school with the boys. One of the things I have found is that we do lose muscle mass as we age and it's not just about looking fit and trim. It also has ALOT to do with supporting our bodies and controlling aches and pains. Just like they say having strong abs helps support the back and it's one of the first things they tell you to work on if you have back pain - I am now finding that leg muscles support the legs and knees and ankles. So it's all about feeling better and having the stamina to do the everyday things. I'm thinking that Sassy probably shares your dislike of exercise and doesn't want to go for walks around the block? Wishing you the best girl... always. Good thoughts still going out to you...

Thanks for the good thoughts Ceejay - aren't you glad you are a little farther away so you don't have to deal with residual effects of hurricanes? With the weather getting cooler you should see some color starting to peek in the trees too. Are you keeping up with with your music practice?

Laura - I guess the electrician didn't really fix the lights after all. The one light stopped working about 4 days after he "fixed it". My DH thinks he replaced the failing part with the same kind of part D had put in the light - which was the wrong "power" and it burnt the ballast out prematurely. DH will probably get roped into working on the light tomorrow. It wasn't the electrician's fault - he had no way of knowing that the ballast was the wrong size. Always something. I'm glad your car battery didn't drain out with the hatch being left open. Good too that you didn't get any rain either. I guess it's easy enough not to notice. I think you are right about rethinking the entry to the shed doors. We had one we built in AH and we butted it right to the patio so we'd have a cement entry way and it was handy being about to use a ramp and not fuss with the doors. I think it also helps keep the doors from rotting. How nice you got to visit with your old friend. I wonder if he drives like a speed demon now that he lives in the Twin Cities

Shad - time to check in. How are the renovations coming along?

Susie - did you have a nice holiday weekend? You have me wanting to buy some clothes now with all the great stuff you got on your shopping trip!

Ok, best get off the computer because the day is running quickly and I have to shower up and get some errands run. I realized that bingo is tomorrow night and I HAVE to get to the bank to make last week's deposit and more importantly get the change we need so that I have enough small bills for business tomorrow night. Yikes!

Have a good one ladies.

Afternoon all. Long meeting today (10-1) and now a quick lunch.

Happy – I hope your day is better today. Oops, just reading your latest post…crikes the furnace not behaving! Grrr! == Awful we’ve got another part of the country facing a weather catastrophe. I’ve got a friend in Miami – I’ll have to check where Irma is headed. == I think the electrician should have checked the ballast before putting a new part in there!

Ceejay – There has been no announcement that My Big Fat Fabulous Life will be back for another season. It got very silly/stupid last year with all the scenarios that the producers cooked up – probably because the star doesn’t really have all that much (interesting) going on in her real life. And as I said, it really isn't all that fabulous. They probably can’t see where else it could go. So much for that. == It got really chilly overnight by us and it’s only in the mid-60’s right now. Jacket time!

Annie – I’m glad you’re getting through your days, with some good ones thrown in there. Good job staying with the Keto program. Great current/goal weight for someone your height. Ditto what Happy said about exercise. == I haven’t checked out the classes at the recplex for the fall. I’m going to exercise at home for the time being. Of course that doesn’t happen when I get home and plop down on the sofa and talk turns to dinner. (That happened yesterday.) And it won’t happen tonight – I have a work dinner. Sigh.

Hellos to Shad and Susie.

Nothing new with me, so I'll just get this posted.
