Good Morning! We are back to clouds and cold. There are some patches of blue sky peeking through the clouds so maybe there is hope for some sunshine. We got over a half inch of rain yesterday and just a dusting of snow during the night -- not enough to cover the leaves though. I've been doing laundry and need to get busy on cards. We are going to Sioux City this afternoon; have some shopping to finish and Maddy's band concert is tonight.

"Gma," I laugh when I see that boxer commercial! I sure hope we don't look like that! I eat quite a bit of cheese and figure it is my dairy intake rather than drinking milk.

Susan, I can find dust and fuzz/fur bunnies in places I thought I had just cleaned. I know I don't clean like I used to.

Maggie, I'm so glad Will is finished with his chemo treatments. I hope the follow-up testing will show all is clear. I would like the fudge recipe. When we are in larger malls I see the See's candy, but not around here. I've never bought it.

I need to keep moving or I won't get my "to dos" done. Have leftovers for lunch but need to warm and get them ready. Hope you enjoy your day!

GOOD AFTERNOON IN DECEMBER MAGNOLIAS ☺♫

JEAN This is so good and really easy to make:

SEE’S FUDGE
YIELD: 5 Pounds
Mix together in a large bowl then set it aside:
2 (12 oz) packages of semi sweet chocolate chips
3 ½ oz of marshmallow cream
1 tsp Vanilla
2 cups chopped walnuts
½ pound Parkay margarine (butter makes it too greasy)
Stir together in a 2 qt pot over medium heat:
1 (12 oz) canned milk
4½ cups sugar (a 2 pound box)
After it reaches a boil, stir for 5 minutes
Pour the milk & sugar mix over the mix in the large bowl
Mix it all up gently together.
Pour the fudge out on a lined large jelly roll pan.
This candy requires no beating, just let it cool and then cut it into squares.

Always remember ~ Never, never, never give up

Good Morning! The sun is shining!!!! There's no wind blowing right now but it's a cold 8 degrees. The cable guy came this morning to check why the picture sometimes freeze; no sound or sound that isn't with the character facial movement, or just the picture freezes for a few seconds. It seems to always be the HD channels. He removed a filter they no longer use but didn't think that was the problem. We'll see -- he gave me his personal card and said to call him direct if it happens again. His card says, "Devoted Husband, Nerd, Keeper of the DVDs." A nice young man who probably thinks we are really OLD geezers. I've been working on cards this morning, and sorting through the paper pile. Have bell practice later this afternoon.

Better get back to my cards. Time is flying by and next week is Christmas! Beth has ordered some snow saying it just doesn't seem like Christmas with no snow. I said an inch and gone on the 26th! Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Talking Wonderful COLD Wednesday

GOOD AFTERNOON IN DECEMBER MAGNOLIAS ☺♫

It is a chilly day here in the ♥-Land and the clouds look like it just may snow. Will went to the hospital this morning to turn in the bag and pump and they decided since he has been throwing up so much this session they would give him a transfusion of something to calm his innards down. He was so glad and so was I that I went with him this morning for I was able to go into the room with him and wait the hour and half with him for the liquid to drip into his body. He will go in the next 5 days for shots to bring his white cell count back up and then he will be through except to have that port removed in his shoulder and a conversation with the doctor. It was sure neat to have that port for whenever they needed to give him a shot it was used and he didn’t get a bunch of needle pokes in his arm. It will all be over with except for the times they want to have him checked to see if the cancer is not back. They can tell that by a blood test. He is snoozing now and catching on some sleep he missed out on during last nights business. I am tired too this day for my sleep was disturbed by his bouts of up chucking during the night. This last session is absolutely the worst he has felt out of all of them.

JEAN Even an inch would make it look like winter wonderland. I would like the same but we may be in for some tonight. Your TV guy sounds like a good one to have. I am glad I have all my cards done and thank you notes for gifts we have received so far.
Always remember ~ Never, never, never give up

Good morning ladies. Cold here this morning.

Brother I just seem to have one thing after another the last few weeks. I got up this morning and there is $130 worth of charges for music downloads on my bank account!!! Our bank is great as they refund the money as soon as the charges come through paid, but this is the 4 or 5 time my card has been hacked. In this day and age you can't do much about it unless you never charge anything and only use cash but it really irks me. Our bank has a no liability guarantee so no matter what you get your money back. Just one more thing to deal with I guess.

I did finally get my biopsy report and thank heavens it is benign but fluid is building back up on my hernia repair so I have to continue to go to Dr Wheat. I have to go again after Christmas.

Maggie: I have a high school friend that lives in Montana and he posted a picture on FB a few days ago and they have no snow at all. He said it looks weird not to have snow this time of year and he lives part way into the mountains.

Jean: You are always so busy. Hope you can get your cards finished and whatever else you need to get done for the holidays. We can have that freezing thing on HD too so who knows because you have cable and we have satellite. It happened the other day and I thought maybe it was raining as you can have problems when it rains with HD and satellite but then it just flicked back on.

Everyone have a good day. Faye

Good Morning! It's another gloomy day in my neighborhood but a tiny bit warmer than yesterday. I've been working on a Christmas dinner grocery list and writing Christmas cards this morning.

"Gma," it's good to see you today! I wonder how, or why, your bank account gets hacked so often. I'm glad they don't hold you responsible for the charges. It sure took a long time to get your biopsy report, but it's good you got it. Here it takes a week to get a report back from CA regarding if chemo treatment for breast cancer is necessary. I'm not sure if that is just for breast cancer but those are the two I know of from here. The TV picture froze again yesterday afternoon, and no sound, so I called the tech. He came back and decided the problem is in the transmission innards for the area. He said it would have to go to the next level of repair techs so we'll see if it ever gets fixed. The nonHD channels work fine when the HD channels freeze.

I need to clear off the table and think about something for lunch. Hope you all enjoy the day!

Good morning to you all. It is back into the low 40's this AM but not going to get much higher. Jack has left for work and I am going to get started cleaning the downstairs in just a bit.

Jack has a coffee meeting tomorrow morning and while he is gone I am going to get the rest of the darn Christmas presents wrapped that are still sitting up on the table upstairs. I have been procrastinating again but I am running out of time.

They shipped me a new bank card overnight FEDEX so should have it sometime today. I have to wait for all the charges to be paid before I can file a fraud charge on them and get out money back, but the credit union will have the money back in our account by Saturday as I can do the paperwork online and send it right to them. They do what is called a provisional credit which means you can spend the money but if they find you at fault they will take the money back. Never had any question about it so I don't foresee any problems.

I did receive my beautiful dress shoes I bought but they all have to go back. They are all three the same style and have a tiny wedge heel on them but when I stand up my foot slides forward leaving a gap in the back and my toes sticking out over the end of the shoe. I really love the shoes but they just won't work. I have to stick with dress flat heeled sandals or flats I guess. It stinks when you have flat feet for sure.

Jean: I buy a ton of stuff online and though I never use places that don't have security measures they have found ways around it I guess. Most places I buy from even ask for the security code on the back of the card, but people get the number that buy stuff from places that don't ask for it, in this case Google music. I plan on giving them a piece of my mind though it won't do any good. Thought you'd like to know after talking to him on Sunday he thought about it and made a meeting to discuss the situation. I am hoping good things come from it. Prayer always helps too!

Everyone have a great weekend. We have commissary this weekend and probably going to be nuts because of Christmas next week. Oh, btw, my caramel corn was a huge hit with the dr's staff. They kept going on and on about it and ask that I bring the recipe in next time. Let me know if you want it. It is an Amish recipe, takes time but very easy. Faye

Good Afternoon! It's another cloudy cold day in my corner of the world. Some sunshine would be so welcome. I braved WM first thing this morning and it was crazy! Stupid people stop and park carts right in the middle of the aisle and/or stop to visit with a long lost friend. They are oblivious to anyone trying to get around them. Bob is off hunting down truck parts and repair advice, for the semi, with his farmer friend. I won't see him until supper time, maybe. I've got a few cards left to do, gifts to wrap, dust bunnies to collect, the rest of the house to decorate, laundry, and the list goes on.

"Gma," that is too bad the new shoes wouldn't work for you. I'm thinking I may need to spring for new shoes for the CA wedding. I'll worry about that after Christmas. I didn't have to order much online this Christmas. I like it when everything comes from one place like Amazon, and in one box. Good luck with the meeting! I would like your caramel corn recipe please.

I need to get busy! Hope you all enjoy a good day!

Good morning gals. It is cold in the house this morning so I sure hope it warms up as the morning goes along. I don't want a $300 utility bill so I am going to just cover up when I am done.

The fraudulent charges were paid last night so that is one reason I am up so early. I did a fraud claim on my bank this morning to get the ball rolling to get our money back. Since it is the weekend it may be after Christmas before we get it back I don't know. I am hoping after the first of the week it will be there.

I did get a refund on the undies which was a shock. I am done with them though. I am tired of getting stuff I sent back because they made a mistake. I once got a dress that was the wrong length and then they sent shirts once that were too small because they didn't have any my size. I mean don't you just not fill the order? Anyway, I doubt I ever order from them again.

I have the house cleaned so today it is tackle the, ugh, Christmas present wrapping. There isn't even that much but I sure do hate it.

Jean: I emailed you the recipe. I didn't want to tempt anyone here. I am hoping great things come from the meeting too. The cart thing drives me nuts too, especially when there is already crap from the store stacked up in the aisles or people stocking stuff when you are shopping. We seem to hit the commissary when they are doing that. They seem to always do it on the weekends. Why they can't just wait until the weekday when the store is a lot more quiet I'll never know.

Maggie: I forgot to tell you thank you for the lovely Christmas card. I got one from a high school friend that I have reconnected with and haven't seen since I was 18. She said everyone who comes in and sees it says, "Who's that?"

You all have a nice Saturday. I am off to warm up. My hands are freezing. Faye

Happy Saturday! It's another CRAPPY weather day in my corner of the world. I ran a couple errands this morning and it is misting, cold enough to make the sidewalks slippery. My "to do" list is getting shorter!

"Gma," when you return items you have ordered online, do you take them to the post office or a UPS site? Our po ALWAYS has a line of people sending money orders south. They finally opened up a third window after Thanksgiving, for people needing stamps, mailing packages, or businesses dropping off bulk mailings. Did you see the news program about people returning "used" undies and the store putting them back out for resale? I think it was either 20/20 or Dateline. I will never look at new undies the same again! Thank you for sharing the recipe! I bought the cereal, etc., to make the party mix so maybe will do the corn for New Year's. We bought some from the scouts and it had almonds and cashews in it too.

Well, my "break time" is over and I need to unload the dishwasher and start on laundry. Wishing you all a happy Saturday!

Good Afternoon! Ah, first day of winter. It's another gloomy, foggy, misty day in my neighborhood. I am so ready for some sunshine! Went to early church, then out for breakfast, stopped at the grocery store for garlic and onion powder, changed clothes, read the paper, and need to get back to getting things in order for Christmas. For some reason I am dragging my feet and can think of lots of other things I'd rather be doing.

I do need to get busy and accomplish something before the day is over. Enjoy a super Sunday whatever you are doing today.

Good afternoon!! We went to the commissary, walked in and no one in the store except employees. In the store about 20 minutes and baboom people everywhere. It was totally nuts the rest of the time and a line to check out and 2 cashiers!!! I mean three days before Christmas.

Got home and put everything away and finishing up laundry. I am watching this holiday ER show and this guy has a live fish stuck in his esophagus and is choking to death especially since it is a catfish, which as poisonous spine and they can't get it out. They you have a trophy wife of a rich chubby guy in cardiac arrest fighting with the dr and the old bat mother because she wants the doctor to harvest his semen so she can have his baby. I am assuming she figures if he dies and has his chi.d she will be rich even with a prenup. Serious but funny show.

Jean: I have to make caramel corn and pack to go to the hotel on Tuesday tomorrow. Lots of stuff to do tomorrow. The shoe place gives you a mail back label and our PO have drawer things where you can just drop a pre-label packages in them and not have to stand in line. Euwww that is disgusting. What is wrong with people.

Everyone have a great Sunday. Faye

"Gma," we've had the Iowa Public TV station on all afternoon. All Christmas concerts performed by different colleges, universities, choirs, and all with live orchestras. One had awesome bell ringers going up two separate sections right in the middle of the singers; some ringing two smaller bells in each hand and from memory. I am lucky that I play bigger bells, one in each hand! Also have never had to memorize the music, thank heavens! How long will you be gone? Hope you have a good time.

Good morning! Jack just left for work, I have a small load of laundry going and the stuff for caramel corn stacked on the countertops to do in a bit. I have to start getting stuff gathered up to go down to the casino tomorrow and get stuff ready to pack this evening.

I should have gone and gotten my nails done but I didn't so they are just going to have to be ok. I may repolish to make them shiny, but they aren't grown out so they look ok.

Jean: She paid for us for 2 nights. We will be back home Christmas morning and just spend it quietly. Jay and Alicia are leaving for Mexico today to spend the holiday with her dad and Kelly and Tom always spend Christmas day with his parents and sister so we always spend Christmas alone but not a big deal. I only learned to play piano and not well so am not sure I could be very good as part of a group like bell ringers. Sounds like the concerts were nice. Have you ever heard the song, "Mary Did You Know?" It was written and performed by a gospel singer and commedian named Mark Lowry. It is probably my favorite Christmas song that is modern. I heard an accapella group sing it a week or so ago, but still like Mark's rendition. If you haven't heard it, Google it and listen. It is a beautiful and heart rending song.

Everyone have a great start to the week. Should be a busy one. Faye
