Question new and confused.

Hi i am new and really confused i skimmed thru the new sugar busters book last night and i was looking at the meal plans but nothing really says how much of like whole wheat bread you are allowed in a day or for the meat what is an actual serving size, im lost with not knowing how much of each item i should eat like olives also how many can you have.
or are you suppose to go by the serving size on the package so if i wanted olives i would eat what the jar says a serving is... oh please help im sooooo confused!!!!!!

Hi Baswed,
FIrst thing I would HIGHLY recommend is to not skim the book. There are some really basic but critical principles to understand with regards to how various foods impact the body and weightloss. Understanding the reading lables was huge! My husband still will read a label that says '0' sugar and think it's ok. When I have him read the ingrediants and he comes to High fructose corn sugar he stops

I basically follow the food pyramid in terms of servings sizes. One tip from SB's, if you are not losing weight, is to cut back on the breads. I've pasted some information below that talks about what quantifies a serving for the various food groups. You will see foods listed that are NOT SB legal i.e. Fruit banana. Just substitute legal foods for the no-no's :-)

WHAT COUNTS AS A SERVING?
Food Groups
Bread, Cereal, Rice, and Pasta
1 slice of bread 1 ounce of ready to-eat cereal 1/2 cup of cooked cereal, rice, or pasta

Vegetable
1 cup of raw leafy vegetables 1/2 cup of other vegetables, cooked or chopped raw 3/4 cup of vegetable juice

Fruit
1 medium apple, banana , orange 1/2 cup of chopped, cooked, or canned fruit 3/4 cup of fruit juice

Milk, Yogurt, and Cheese
1 cup of milk or yogurt 1-1/2 ounces of natural cheese 2 ounces of process cheese

Meat, Poultry, Fish, Dry Beans, Eggs, and Nuts
2-3 ounces of cooked lean meat, poultry, or fish 1/2 cup of cooked dry beans or 1 egg counts as 1 ounce of lean meat. 2 tablespoons of peanut butter or 1/3 cup of nuts count as 1 ounce of meat.

Hope that helps!

Peace to you,
Tammy
