Here's another question...I've been on p1 since last week Wednesday, March 1st. I'm going to Wisconsin Dells (waterpark central of the great lakes) and will be staying at an indoor water park, so I'd like to lose as much weight as possible before then. I'd like to stay on p1 until we go up for the weekend. Is this healthy?

You don't say when you will be going to the water park. It might be fine if you are talking an extra couple of days but totally different if you are talking extra weeks - especially since you don't have much to lose.

My endocrinologist who has done the South beach herself and highly recommends it says you don't have to switch to phase 2 after the 2 weeks. I asked her this because I stop losing when I move to phase 2. She told me to stick with phase 1 if I wanted. She also told me on days when I really, really want something from phase 2 to have it and then move back to phase 1. I am hypothyroid so losig weight for me is extra difficult. Hope this helps.
