I just had one more thought on the aspartame thingy...
If you have followed any of the articles on whether aspartame is good for you (even if not heated), the jury is still out on whether the effects are bad for your health, or not. It depends on the perspective that the advocate is taking.
Personally, I don't care. I drink diet sodas, and the flavored waters that are sweetened with aspartame. I also make a cola chicken that is nummmy, but I use diet coke. I just don't do it very much. When I was in Atlanta a few years ago I went to the World of Coke (of course) and bought a cookbook. The cookbook advised not to use their diet products in cooking, but didn't give a reason. Consequently, I needed to find out why.
I have also read that too much aspartame for small children can pose a health threat, as well. I haven't read any of the research around this, but until you find out, it might be good to pay attention to. Remember, though, that Splenda is not aspartame.
