Default Non SBD food in pantry...What to do with it?

Did anyone start SBD with a pantry fulll of non SBD food? What did you do with it? I have plenty of things like bacon, pasta, salad dressings, cereals, cream cheeses......the list goes on? I don't want to just throw it away, but I don't want to jeopardize my progress either. Any solutions? THANKS!

Sheila

I'd take it to the food bank, Sheila!

I took mine to the food bank for perishable foods and made a lot of non-sbd dishes for potlucks with the perishables.

Food bank for stuff that is not opened. Give away the rest or pitch it!

Fortunately I have an 8-year old daughter that eats stuff that is off plan for me but there have been things that I've had in the cupboard that she won't eat. I have been making dishes to take to pot-lucks with a lot of them but this often means that there is nothing legal for me to eat at these dinners.

My neighbors are three hungry single men, so whenever a non-SBD item finds it's way into my pantry, I drop it off next door.

My mother-in-law seems to be the most frequent offender: zucchini bread, salad dressings, Chunky soup, kielbasa, etc. She has always been under the impression that I don't feed DH enough (not true as he's put on about 25lbs since we got married), so she picks up everything on sale and drops it at our house when she knows I'm not home. Our neighbors don't seem to mind and I can get my exercise carrying all those canned goods over to them!

Now, I don't have a MIL yet.....but I do have a DF's mother, who thinks I'm stealing her son away and turning him again her. She even disowned him for a short while and wouldn't talk to him (even though he's her ONLY family) because he was plenty busy with me and didn't talk to her for a couple of days, which means she wasn't needed anymore. Uggghhhhhh. (She's on the SBD so I hope she doesn't read this!) She's a firm believer in eating out allllll the time, and who else to ask to go? Terry.

Now, since he and I have been together, he's put on weight, but that's not my fault! He's very picky about his food, so ANYTHING I cook, he comes up with "It'd be better if it had *whatever*" or "It's good, but it'd be better if it were *whatever.*" So, I just don't cook for him. He thinks something smells good in the kitchen? He can figure out how to make it himself!

I've tried to ask him to support me and eat better with me, etc, but he's just not ready. He wants to eat a pizza a day, and have 5 tacos for lunch, and eat ice cream whenever he wants. I told him I worry about his health (since his lovely mother is so overweight and heart disease runs in the family) but oh well. He'll come around eventually.
