Cyndi, I think that's the reason I didn't care for the soup. I was expecting it taste just like the usual restaurant version that I used to enjoy.

The DR is pretty sure Jake has a basal cell melanoma, and took a culture to send to the dermatologist. So he has an appt. with them in early January, and we'll take it from there. We weren't surprised, as that's what we suspected. I'm just miffed at Jake for taking almost 2 years to finally have it looked at.

Linda - I'm glad he finally listened to reason and that it's something that, I hope, is relatively easy to get rid of.

Cottage, I totally understand. My husband didn't go to the dentist for 20 years. When we got married, I forced him to go. They said he had early gum disease, and recommended he visit a periodontist. He freaked out so much he didn't go back to the dentist for 4 years until he had a terrible toothache, then he went to some back room dentist who did gum surgery on him - then he didn't go back AGAIN until recently (3 years later, and I forced him) and guess what, he may lose up to 5 teeth. His mother just had full upper dentures put in and she is only 65, and it is from not going to the dentist. Commiserating with you. I hope everything is ok. I think those kind of melanomas can be quite benign.

Since Jeff and I have been married (11 years), he has been to the doctor twice -- once for kidney stones and once for bronchitis so awful he couldn't breath. Men!

Well, at least I know Jake isn't alone in his aversion to seeing a doctor, and thanks for all your good wishes.
