Default Flax seed

Does anyone know if there is a limit to the amount of ground flax seed we can have a day in P2? Not that Im going to eat cups of it - lol that would be pretty damaging. But I have made some fresh hummus and cant have wheat so made some flax crackers...just dont want to go overboard Thanks!

I think it's 2 Tbsp on p1. But I sometimes have up to 1/4 cup and I do fine.

Of course, but...I dont measure anything It's easy to wing this one though, really easy!

You can probably start small with 1/2 cup of ground flax. I like the golden one. I mix it with enough water to form a thick paste. If you like, you can add some parmasean cheese to it for a bit of flavor, but they are fine as is if you are using them for something nice and spicy.

I cover a pizza pan with parchment paper. You have to use parchment (or wax paper, but it is not as good) or it will stick. I take about a teasponful of the mixture and drop it on the parchment. Then I rip off an extra little piece, place it over the mound and then I press it down to make a very thin circle. You can peel it back and off and then repeat for the rest of the mixture. I bake it for ABOUT 10 minutes in ABOUT a 350 degree oven. Check then beforehand though to see how it's working out. You want to pick up one and make sure its not pliable - you want them to really be like crackers, otherwise they wont have that crunch it should have. If its still pliable, put it back in for a few more minutes.

Im going to try to attach a pic i had on my computer - these I made and put salmon and cream cheese on top of...tonights were great though with the hummus! ..hmmm i dont have enough posts yet to upload the link. Let me know I can email it to you

Can you get golden flax in a regular grocery store? I've never looked for it...

Yes you can Chelby. I know Walmart has a large selection of Bob's Red Mill and they usually always have the flax meal in stock. The grocer I use, Shop Rite, always has it in stock to, of course its cheaper in Walmart. It's usually in the bake isle where the flours and sugars are.

I think they will take a little getting used to for me....but I haven't eaten flax much so it's a very new flavor for me! Easy to make, and a good vehicle for hummus
