Swiss Kriss is a natural laxative. It has the herb Senna in it. Senna, Cascara Sagrada, and Psyillium Husks are all natural laxatives with no chemicals or sodium.

Belle - Senokot is also very rich in senna.

Thanks for the recommendation of Cascara Sagrada

i have IBS and i every so often I have to take a laxative... but if you take a fiber supplement every day (such as metamucil) in a large glass of water you should feel better.

depending on laxatives is not a good thing. If you struggle with constipation it might be IBS... that's the most common form.

Zeff is right water will help.
she's also right about being malnourished. so easy to do and be obese even...

Jellybean it just seems that everything we tell you is blown off with, "yeah BUT".... makes it hard to want to help....

I've tried the Metamucil, Fiber Choice, just about everything, doesn't work.

Although, after I had my dunkin donuts latte lite last night, it helped my bowels then.. and it was a large latte. So I cheated a little, but got to crap, that's all I cared about. I got right back on track.

Senna and cascara may be "natural" but you do not want to use them regularly. They stimulate the colon, and if used too long, the colon can stop working.

The first couple times I did SBD phase 1, I had the same issues. It was not for lack of veggies or fluids. I think that a carb heavy diet actually makes me "celebrate" more regularly.
I have found that eating beans each day helps...but you said you don't like beans.
I think dairy can help...the lactose probably works a bit of celebratory magic.
Instead of...or before trying a laxative...try just a stool softener. These are not addictive like a laxative and don't have the cramping side effects.

OR...eat a whole bag of sugar free candy...sure to do the trick...but watch out for those cramps!!!---This was a JOKE>>please don't try this for real.

Why, oh why didn't someone tell me this when I first started P1?

Hey, someone said to drink alot of water, can it be flavored water? I just got the South Beach Tide Me Over Packets today, it tastes pretty good and has 5g of fiber.. which is odd cause usually no flavored packets have fiber as far as I know, LOL

those have fiber, protein, and calories.

They are not the same as drinking water. They are intended to "Tide you Over" when you can't have a snack or meal but are hungry (like when you are preparing a meal) - Not to be used as a meal replacement of course -

I must be the only one who has the opposite form of IBS (used to go #2 5 or 6 times a day). SBD has done wonders on helping my IBS.

I've always been afraid of the sugar alcohols in the sugar free candy. I know one of them is really bad for dogs, but I can never remember which one (and my dogs get into almost everything).
