honestly, im not starving myself, being on this diet im just not that hungry like i used to be, sometimes i have to force myself to eat something even though im not hungry.. it's quite weird coming from someone who WAS a food addict.
you are setting yourself up to be hungry later on
by eating so little you are training your metabolism to need less food.
Sorry I confused your age...you seem a lot younger...
I didn't mean an eating disorder....I meant things like gallstones which occur quite frequently in women undertaking very low calorie diets. No doctor would approve of you eating that few calories without medical supervision. Very low calorie diets (anything under 800 calories) can also cause a woman's body to stop menstruating (while that seems really cool...the overall effects...not so much).
I would recommend reading the websites that I linked to.....they can provide more information.
the foods i have been eating have been filling me up, no hunger. im following the south beach diet just modifying it and those sample menus in the book, i possibly cannot eat all that in a day i'd wanna puke i'd be so full. isn't the whole idea is to eat when ur full, not force yourself?
have you discussed your lack of appetite with your doctor?
have you received permission from your doctor to eat so little?
you are not getting enough nutrients to sustain your body on a long term basis.
when you start eating more food you will gain... then get discouraged right?
and i can understand totally why Zeff thought you were younger. I did too.
basically you are asking us to condone your destroying your body....
Ummm... what happened to Jellybean's posts? I'm confused. Did she get banned for having an apparent eating disorder? (I'm not dissing you Jellybean, by no means, I just think you're heading towards anorexia and I hope that's not the case.)
It is true that you don't feel 'hungry' because your metabolism has dropped and therefore your body is sustaining itself on the limited amounts of calories that you consume. But in the long run, you'll end up burning off good muscle tissue also, and YOU DEFINITELY DON'T WANT THAT. You might lose weight, but you'll be unhealthy and you'll also be flabby! ANd if you eat higher calories after that, you will gain back whatever you lost the unhealthy way, and then some.
You do have to eat a minimum required amount of calories, based on your age, weight, BRM to support your bodily functions (I don't just mean number 1 and number 2, I mean stuff like blood flowing to your heart, your body producing new cells, producing energy, etc, etc the list goes on). When you eat too few calories, you're just asking for bad health later down the road, I'm afraid. Your body will go and deplete its stores until you have no nutrition left (do you really want to end up with stuff such as osteoporosis and liver failure and malnutrition? 'cause you will...) It can even affect your heart, no matter your age.
You may seem to be losing weight, but it's not the healthy way and it will come back. Your body needs calories to not only function but to BURN calories... to make energy to burn calories... to lose real, true weight. You have to keep the metabolic fires stoked in order to burn..
Now I know sometimes I skip on my snacks and I pay for it later when I feel hungry and sluggish. It's not a good thing to not eat! Eating is very good for you... eating the right foods that is, and eating enough of them.
How old did she say she was, guys? I missed that part, apparently. I was thinking 17/18 myself. I thought she was young. I have read some of her threads and she talks about living with her mom and her mom buys the groceries and etc, etc, and I just assumed she was still a kid living at home.
Again, Jellybean, not dissing you or anything... I like you, you seem to be nice. I think everyone may be concerned that you might have an eating disorder though, and you may need some help. It's okay..
Oh, crap. I have done it again. Original Poster... I did not mean to go off topic although it seems to have started with Jellybean or something... still not sure exactly what happened.
Anyway, you should try making some chocolate custard. After dinner, maybe eat half a cup of it or so... Ladybugnessa said it is required on phase 1, the others said dessert isn't, so I am rather confused myself. But if you're not hungry, I don't know if you should force yourself to eat anything else. If you're full definitely don't force it... but if you're just normal, you could always try to eat a little dessert later on in the evening, such as my suggestion.
mel - some people are beyond help and good advice. Don't stress over it too much.
To answer your second question, 26. I don't think she was banned...I think she just deleted her posts.
Ahh I see. Well, maybe she'll read the posts and something will click... sure hope so. But since she's an adult even older than me, I don't feel as compelled to help anymore.. . she's grown, hopefully she will see the light.
I think the best way to get around the varying answers of dessert or no dessert is to eat every 3 hours that you are awake......keeps your metabolism up, and gets that weight down.
Sounds easy, but is actually difficult in application. 3 hours never came so fast before!
That's a bit like the Jorge Cruise thing, to eat a little somethin-something every 3 hours to keep your metabolism stoked. It's actually a pretty good principle, I think.

I was wondering if it would come back OT but I definitely understand - that needed addressing.
I think the problem has been eliminated. Dessert has been very welcome the last few days. It does feel like I am constantly eating (so I am never hungry long). I also really enjoy preparing my food. Chopping up the vegetables is so soothing.
