  • Just thought I would have a little fun with the title...

What are your tricks for getting all 68ox in each day???

I have a camelback and that definitely helps, but my hydration has been in the yellow at my last few weigh ins. Any suggestions???

    Thanks in advance!
  • ice
  • I keep a Brita pitcher at work - it's at my desk and I always drink the whole thing before I leave. I also keep large 32oz cups at home I fill up 2-3x/day, my last nightly treat is homemade seltzer with some Mio (yes, it's cleared with my coach). I've never had a problem with drinking water though.

Which type of Mio do you use?
  • I just keep my water with me at all times and have trained myself to take a drink or two when I'm bored. I am usually over 100 ounces for the day.
  • my mouth is so dry these days, I need the water! Especially when I'm eating my protein bar, etc. for lunch!

I have one of the tall, clear, plastic Starbucks cups at my desk at work. I drink water ALL DAY LONG, and then more of it in another similar cup when I get home. Something about the straw seems to help. Not to mention, LOADS of ice!
  • I have a bottle of water (16 oz) before my morning shake, usually one mid morning, then another after I drink my lunch shake while I'm snacking on my veggies, one to two more before I leave work, and 2 bottles usually at home, one with dinner one at bedtime....I don't know what that adds up to...oh, and if it's cold, I drink tea all day at work, 12 oz cup.
  • Hahaha...love the title.

Personally, I've never minded drinking water, b/c I don't like soda...I figure if you can use soda to get rid of car battery corrosion, I probably shouldn't be putting that soda in my body.

Also, for me, it helps to remember that most of the time when we feel what we perceive to be hunger, we're actually just thirsty.

I have a daily goal of drinking at least 100 ounces of water a day.

I take my thyroid meds each AM with 16 ounces of water. Then, I drink another 16 ounces of water while I eat breakfast (even if I'm drinking breakfast). Then, I drink another 16 ounces after I finish breakfast, when taking my breakfast time Potassium/Calcium tablet and Multi-Vit. I don't allow myself to begin enjoying my 24 ounce Camelback bottle with 1 squirt of Berry Pomegranate (sp?) Mio until I've done this.

I also take my snack-time Cal-Mags with 16 ounces of water, and take my dinner-time Cal-Mags/Multi-Vit with another 16 ounces of water.

    16 x 5 = 80, plus the 24 ounce Camelback with Mio = 104 ounces.

My coach gets a kick out of my food diary, b/c I add a bunch of boxes and checks to the water section.

orange-tangerine is my fave, berry-pom is 2nd fave!
  • For me it kind of looked after itself, as I've found I have to schedule several glasses of water spread through the day, just to take my supplements:

Before breakfast - 8 oz water with my cleansing pill & Vitalux (a eye-health supplement I have to take)
    After breakfast - 8 oz water with my Potassium-Cal supplement & multi-vitamin
Around 10-am - 8 oz water with my first 2 Omega 3-6-9 supplements of the day
Before lunch - 8 oz water with another medication that needs to be taken prior to eating
Around 4pm - 8 oz water with the second half of my daily omegas 3-6-9 supplements
Before dinner - 8 oz water with my second dose of Vitalux for the day
    After dinner (6:30ish) - 8 oz water with my 'after dinner' IP-related supplements.... ie. 2nd multi-vitamin of the day + 2 Cal-Mag
Before bed - 8 oz water with the final 2 Cal-Mag + my before bed cleansing pill

That's 8-8 oz glasses of water, just taking supplements & meds through the day. Add in another couple of 10 oz glasses of water with lots of ice + MIO somewhere through the afternoon, as well as a couple of glasses of hot herb tea that I generally sip after lunch or dinner and I've got my water quota down me. I drink only decaf tea or coffee so thankfully don't have to drink extra H20 to compensate for that.
  • I love water. I never was a big soda drinker. My first appt I was super hydrated (+5). I will drink two camelpacks at work and then I drink 2 cups each time I take my pills. I drink about 2 cups before I go to sleep, just habit.
  • At work I have a 20 oz bottle and I set myself timelines....one down by 7:30, another by 10, etc... If I haven't finished it by the set time, I slam it and go get more, lol. At home I have a 10 oz bottle on my bathroom vanity and a "traveling" 16 oz Nalgene bottle; that one has become an appendage. I panic when I forget to bring it in the car. I try to have my last jug a couple hours before bedtime otherwise....ugh.
  • Ugh, I'm having a hard time getting all my water in.
  • I have a 24 ounce straw cup. For some reason, I drink a ton more water if I have it in a glass with a straw than if I use any other kind of cup/bottle/whatever. I make a point to drink one full cup before/with breakfast, and then the 2nd one has to be down by noon. I usually finish off another by three, one more before/with supper and another before bed. So that makes 125 ounces, and I really don't even notice that I'm drinking that much (aside from all the trips to the bathroom).
  • Whenever I pick up my glass or bottle of water, as I'm drinking I tell myself "just one more gulp......just one more......just one more......" until I literally can't take another gulp. That little bit of a nudging challenge helps me to take more in with each 'watering' and adds up to getting all of my water in.

I also keep a point of reference. I usually drink from a 16 oz bottle, and know I need to take in at least 4 of those in before the end of the day. That is an easy way to know you've had your quota.
