Confessions of a Lurker

  • Today, I've been on IP since August 2010 (about 23 weeks). I have lost 81 lbs. Whoa! I started Phase 3 this morning, and I am embarrassed to admit that I am somewhat nervous.

I have 3 supremely important sources of support: 1.) my wife, 2.) my IP coaches, and 3.) this forum. This message board has really helped me these past few months. Just about any question or concern that I had about IP could be answered just by reading the posts. In fact, I told my IP coaches about this site because they kept asking from where I got all my great recipe ideas.

I have always been extremely private about my weight, medical condition, etc. until recently when it became a serious problem that could not be ignored anymore. I was never sure of what I wanted to post or talk about with a group of "strangers" which is why I haven't posted or responded much. I wasn't sure what I can offer.

However, I felt that it was necessary to lend my voice to anyone else searching for support or advice or encouragement. I have gotten all three from you all.

As I continue to progress through Phase 3 and eventually Phase 4 maintenance, I will still check in with these boards to see what everyone is sharing. Hopefully, I'll find something to chime in about and share as well. Until then, I want to say THANK YOU for all that you've shared and please continue to make choices that support your desires for health and happiness.

  • You look fantastic! Congratulations to you for your success, I hope your health has improved from the change. You should post, as there are not alot of men on the boards and the support is so helpful, as you have stated. I loved phase III, as I love Greek Yogurt in the morning. Don't be nervous, you'll do great! I am back on phase I, to go to my final goal. Wait til Wuv sees this, she will be so excited for you, she's the best coach there is!
  • What a fantastic gift you have given yourself, your health! I loved your comment about the recipes. So many people comment on the sacrifics of giving favorite things up but it is actually a chance to be creative and discover new healthy ways of making things. There are wonderful food suggestions and recipes on her, no need to ever get bored.

Congratulations on a job well done!
  • I start phase 3 on tuesday and i am so nervous!! I don't know what I'm going to do for the dairy... i really dislike dairy products in general because they don't mix well with me. Are you eating yogurt? milk? or cheese? i haven't decided yet, going shopping on sunday! Good luck today, you will do great, just believe in yourself!

Congratulations to you AND watel. About the dairy -- you need that for calcium as well as potassium. How about lactose free yogurt mixed with a little stevia, fresh berries, and some high fiber cereal?
  • Wow congratulations!!!!
  • Congratulations, you look amazing!!! Keep posting and keep us updated, we always like to see successful IP results!!
