Question Can we start SB at Phase II?

Hi! I've just started SB along with my husband (thundering applause). I did Atkins about 1 year ago and lost 30 lbs very quickly. While that was great and it has pretty much stayed off (I still have some to go) I was tired of all the heavy foods. I don't really enjoy salad either.
My big question is does anyone know if there is anything wrong with us starting under Phase II? I know it's better to start with Phase I b/c it puts your body into ketosis but my mouth is already beginning its gag reflexes to that heavy food again.
We're both trying really hard not to cheat and have done pretty good. I'm not interested in the quick loss but rather the long haul. I'm wondering if we just start in Phase II will we still lose the weight? I would think we would b/c we're still eating healthier, we just won't lose it as fast.
[B]Thanks!!!
P.S. I must say 3FC has the best forums I've ever seen!

Whoa! Phase I should NOT put your body in ketosis! That's Atkins. If it does, you are not eating enough veggies and legumes.

I see nothing wrong at all with starting with Phase II. If you have been on Atkins for a while, you already are detoxed so go for it. Just don't add too many carbs at once. I'd also suggest using www.fitday.com to check out your calories.

I'm glad you like this site! We try to keep it friendly, supportive and even have fun sometimes.

Thanks, Ruth! You're super quick for replies! I didn't know that about the ketosis thing. I think I just assumed since it was similar with the protein that it would be the same in that area. I'll re-read the book and get more familiar with the plan.
I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks again!!!!

Melzell, welcome to the Beach!
I think starting with Phase II is a great idea. It might make it easier to "slip into" Phase I for a couple of weeks once you're used to the program and allowed foods.
Good luck, girl!!
