be aware of mis-diagnosis
I mentioned this on another thread but I thought i was important enough to start a new one.
I was diagnosed with PCOS at age 19 and suffered for years with painful periods, wicked PMS, hair growth, acne, etc.... you all know the symptoms.
As it turns out I really had endometriosis and didn't know it till I was 26 years old and had a 6 lb cyst on my left ovary. My initial ultrasound(external and trans vaginal) looked like a polycystic ovary. One year later I was in so much pain I couldnt walk and had a 6 lb cyst on my left ovary. Unfortunally the ovary and tube were damaged beyond repair and had to go(I just thank GOD it wasn't cancer).
Endomdetriosis is hard to diagnose and mimics many other disorders. PCOS and cancer being 2. In fact it is called the Benign cancer in some reference books.
Doctors who specialize in fertility disorders are more likely to pick it up than regular gyn's. I bring this up because PCOS and ENDO should be treated differently. Had mine been caught earlier I would probably still be intact.
If the treatment your doctor is giving you dosen't seem to be helping your condition please look into the ENDO possibility. It may save your fertility
