I have found everyone else's progress pictures really inspiring, and I would like to share my own now that I have lost 40 pounds and have reached onderland.
I started this current weight loss effort on Oct. 4, 2010. Around Christmas, I had been on plan for about 2 and a half months but I was feeling like I wasn't seeing much of a change even though I was down 23 pounds (about 10% of my starting weight). Then I discovered that I had forgotten pictures that I had taken on day 1, so I took new pictures to compare. I was reasonably happy at the results, but decided I wasn't ready to share them yet. I thought I was going to wait until I had lost another 23 to take more pics to compare again, but.... I am impatient, and I like round numbers like 40! So here are 3 pics in more or less the same outfit: the same top, but although the jeans are the same style, they go from a Lane Bryant size 22 to 18 to 14.
I personally think it's funny that I'm smiling the least in the most recent picture, but I think I was probably concentrating too hard on matching up the same pose for comparison.
Your pose looks as though you're about to take a bow to wild applause, which frankly you should--you've had great success so far. I thought your less-smiley face in the final picture is just your "Blue Steel!" look, which is also awesome.
And I don't know if you noticed this, but your hair looks like a "before" and "after," too--in each photo, it looks shinier and more lustrous. That's an excellent fringe benefit to eating well, isn't it?
I hope I look as good as you do when I reach your weight. Congratulations again!
Thanks for all the kind words and encouragement everyone!

This part really made me laugh, for two reasons. For one, it is funny to be able to look at the photos and tell exactly how fast my hair is growing....and a good reminder that I should probably get a haircut soon-ish. The second part that is funny is that when I took this picture this morning, I probably hadn't shampooed my hair for close to 3 days. I end up showering at the gym most days, and since I keep forgetting to bring shampoo I just rinse out my hair. I agree though, my hair does seem much healthier, and I also seem to have recently acquired the ability to go several days without washing my hair without it feeling super greasy. A definite bonus!
