For those tracking on FitDay

  • Just starting to use this site to track my food intake. Question though on the Overview tabs nutritional graph is: is the 100% mark the amount you should hit on a daily basis?

If so do you guys track your daily vitiamin intake on this also?

Just curious to see how i can get the most use out of this site.

    Thanks!
  • hi mgunz

i use Fitday, but i don't include my vitamins. You're right about the nutritional graph. I'm nowhere near the 100% recommended daily allowance on many of the nutrients listed. My lowest items are thiamin at 30% of the RDA, vitamin E at 27% of RDA, Pant Acid at 39% of RDA. For me, my carbs are at 26%, fiber 47%,and protein a whopping 220%. Everything else is between 50% - 108%.

I've often considered including the vitamins. The only real reason I don't add them is because i'm just tracking my food. I want to see where my daily food intake takes me without supplements. Just really gives me a better idea how my true eating habits measure up to dietary recommendations. But, that's just me! Plus, I don't know if the RDA is based on a 2,000 calorie diet or if the recommended daily allowance is even based on number of calories consumed.

So...there ya go! Long answer but i'm not sure if it was very helpful!

By the way...does anyone know if Selenium is harmful above 100% rda? My graph shows I'm averaging 108% Selenium intake over the last 3 weeks. I don't even know what it is!
  • Hey I use this too. I really don't care about all the over viatimins as long as I get the essential in at the recommended amount. That should be a problem for u if u are eating the right amount of lean protein, veggies, good carb including fruits. Hope this helps. Oh by the way what does your diet consist of?
