Question What's In Your LC Fridge & Pantry ??

We have so many new faces I thought it would be nice if we had this thread again! I tried search and couldn't come up with the old thread....so, LET'S DO IT AGAIN !!

I have to admit that altho I wasn't new to LC, I was a bit out of place and truly appreciated the reminder of the good LC foods.

Hope everyone will jump on and share their favorite regularly stocked LC foods!

Just got back from the grocery store and bought:

hamburgers
turkeyburgers
lamb chops
lettuce
red peppers and celery
Maries Blue Cheese Dip
Boursin cheese (for the celery)
pepperoni
MORE EGGS!
Low-salt triscuits

( I am eating a PP/Schwartzbein thing of about 15g carb per meal, so I have have been having 2 triscuits with cheese or cottage cheese, and often have cottage cheese with canned peaches or pears for breakfast) What a luxury!

Default All great suggestions!!

Hey, MamaJ, great thinking. Being extremely new to low-carb, I need all the advice on legal foods I can get. Should have seen me last night at the grocery store, "label shopping" til my daughter could've swooned!

Dottie, you get to have Triscuits?!?! My all time fave, and a big no-no at my house. I have been known to consume an entire box by myself!! You lucky thing!

Keep those fresh ideas coming!

Hey, thanks for the welcome. I am currently just winging it doing low-carb "label shopping" because I have no clue just yet! Hey, at least I'm honest. I have bought the Atkins book from eBay, just waiting for it to arrive, then I plan to knuckle down. I did the Mayo diet last year with everyone I work with. We all had some success, I think I lost about 8 pounds, but I cheated mercilessly!! The only problem was, I feared turning into a grapefruit!! Boy, that beef day was worth the wait, though! If I had started being serious about my weight-loss back then, think how far I'd have come by now!! Oh, well, no sense looking back. Think about tomorrow, right? Good luck to you all!

Default So simple it's not really even a recipe!

Duh, I forgot to post this great chicken recipe I got from a girl at work.

You take one 16 ounce bottle of Picante sauce (mine had 2 grams carb) Mix in 1 tablespoon mustard (0 carb) and 3 tablespoons brown sugar (12 carb but worth it) and pour over boneless, skinless chicken breasts (0 carb) Put in 400 degree oven for 40 minutes. Voila! This stuff is yummy!! Ate mine with a big salad.

Anyone else know some simple ones?

Good morning!

NOTE: For all of you trying out those vegie burgers -- watch your carbs! The local brand is made up mostly of some form of beans which are very high in carb. I'll stick to my 90% lean beef burgers. More iron (I tend to be anemic) and no carbs. I haven't checked all the brands so, if you've found a low carb version and enjoy it, that's great!

My low-carb "staples" (i.e., try to never run out of):

Eggs
Cheddar Cheese block (ex: Cracker Barrell)
Celery
1/2 'n 1/2
Flavored Decaf Coffee
Water (use a Britta filter pitcher to save $$)
Beef Patties
B/L S/L Chicken Breasts
Ground Beef/Chicken/Turkey (whichever was cheaper the week before)
Bacon
Thickly Sliced Deli Meats (Roast Beef, Ham, Smoked Turkey)
Sliced American/Swiss Cheese
Salad Mix (those bagged, pre-made salads)
Italian Meatballs (found a brand with 1 carb each)
Mushroom Alfredo Sauce
Green/Wax Beans
Asparagus
Spinach
Mushrooms

OK. Not good. Now I'm getting hungry. Think I'll go make a quick egg before work.

I have given to the church and to friends all of the bad carb food that I had in my house. In the beginning, I found out that hubby was cheating and I thought I would just "fix his wagon"!!!

I only have meats, fish, poultry, necessary condiments, cheeses (for hubby), bacon and sausage, eggs, coffee, whipping cream (for me), half and half (for him) salad fixin's, and vegetables.

It's funny...we have a boarder and I just found that he had bought cinnamon rolls, 2 boxes of Famous Amos cookies, and 2 12-packs of coke. None of these phase me...can you imagine???
