Default Maintainers Weekly Chat June 20 - June 26

Had a super weekend at a family wedding - our family's number one nerd married another nerd with their shared nerdiness worked into the ceremony. First time I've heard Star Wars music at a wedding.

I now need to get back into reasonable eating mode after a weekend in wedding-guest eating mode. There is no room in my life for too many BBQ ribs at a meal.

Happy First Day of Summer!

Happy first day of summer to you too Bill.

We are on day 3 of a "heat wave". Nice to be out and about in shorts and a tank top. For about 10-15 minutes.

Looking forward to "summer temps" starting tomorrow.

Hello

Bill, so wonderful that your family has a number one nerd. I must think about that re my own family. We've certainly got a number one horse person. Can't imagine what they'd nominate me for ...

Dagmar, did you go out with the cat yesterday or a dog? Can't remember what you've got.

A week of bureaucracy beckons. Have decided to do just one heavily bureaucratic thing each day and congratulate myself if I manage to move it even a little bit forward.

Good morning all! We're also having a heat wave--temperatures are supposed to be above 120 today (that's about 49 C, birchie). I got into work at 6 am and it was already 85. Going to do my running around this morning before it gets too dreadful outside.

A nerd on my husband's side of the family had a nerd wedding--everyone in the wedding party dressed as a superhero. Interesting. We didn't attend (actually, we weren't invited as we aren't particularly close to them and it was a backyard deal and in Salt Lake). I saw all the photos on Facebook.

Birchie I have a dog and a cat.

I take the dog out and about to wherever she's allowed to go. The cat goes when and where she wishes. I am the humble minion who operates the kitchen window at her majesty's bidding.

Oh yes. I know other households which run like this!

The "official" high yesterday in Palm Springs was 122--one degree less than a record breaking temperature. Down the road here in Palm Desert, the local news reported us at 126. And today we have humidity to add to the high temperatures. Even our brand new AC in the office was having trouble keeping us cool.

Just WOW at the thought of 126 degrees.

The warranty on the traction battery of a Nissan Leaf all-electric car is void if kept above 120 degrees F for an extended period (a $6000 replacement item).

The length of "extended" isn't stated.
