Default Bored with snacks

Forever and ever now I've been eating the same snacks....an apple in the afternoon, and a cottage cheese/sugar free jello concoction I'll make up on Sundays and portion out for the week. Each snack ranges at about 80-88 calories, and I don't really want to go above 100-120.

What types of filling snacks would you all recommend in the 80-120 calorie range? With both of the snacks I mentioned, I eat them and FEEL satisfied. I'm looking for that feeling with something NEW.

Help!

Here are some of my snacks:
- banana
- other fruit -- pear, peach, whatever's in season -- at least they're not apples
- low fat string cheese
- low fat yogurt (I like the fruit on the bottom type)

I love love LOVE bananas, paperclippy, and eat one every morning with breakfast, whether in cereal or on a low-cal/high fiber Joseph's pita with PB and fat free cream cheese (yum!)....

Maybe I need to look back at the Babybel cheese wheels (50 cals) and something else like a yogurt for a snack? Hmmmm....

How about one of those mini bags of the 94% FF popcorn - they're around 100 calories... and provides some "hand-to-mouth" which I like when I'm stressed. or an ear of corn on the cob (though it might be out of season here soon) - I just pull down the husk, remove the silk, put the husk back up and micro for three minutes and set to go as is - no pan to wash ha.

Yikes - just realized they're both corn products

For me, a snack is usually under 100 calories,
and consists of a small amount of any food I'd like to have.
The higher the calories, the smaller the amount.
Some of my common snacks are:

Quote:
½ cup Plain Greek 0% Fage yogurt = 60 calories;
½ cup dry GoLean cereal = 75 calories;
100 calorie pkg of raw almonds = 100 calories;
1/2 cup of raw sliced Jicama = 22 calories;
1 piece four-inch stalk of celery filled with 1 Tb whipped cream cheese = 36 calories;
1 piece wasa crisp ‘n light cracker bread spread with 1 wedge light Laughing Cow Swiss cheese = 55 calories;
½ cup sliced cantaloupe = 27 calories;
½ cup sliced strawberries = 23 calories;
5 raw button mushrooms = 15 calories;
3 oz raw sugar snap peas = 39 calories;
12 grape tomatoes and 1 wedge light Laughting cow swiss cheese = 60 calories;
2 Tb Salsa and 2 four-inch stalks of celery = 25 calories;
1 oz 75% reduced fat Cabot Cheddar Cheese = 60 calories;
1/2 cup Arctic Zero frozen desert = 45 calories;
1/2 cup container sugar-free jello = 10 calories.

Howdy,
This thread is news I can use I will incorporate these ideas in some version of my eating plan.

As some might know, I avoid snacking, but if I find I am too hungry, then I will eat raw green beans, 6 roasted pecan halves, snap peas, sliced mushrooms. I eat nothing that in anyway looks like a dessert or meal food to me.

I save cottage cheese, Kashi Go Lean, almond butter, fruit and Fage yogurt for my breakfast. For me, these are meal foods. Either at breakfast or at dinner (melon or pineapple).

So a snack for me when I have one has to be a snack.

Congrats on your continued success.

My favorite snack right now is Greek yogurt with almonds. You'd have to cut the serving in half to get under 120 cals, but it's really filling and the Chobani Greek yogurt is sooo creamy!

Default "speed snacking"

I prefer protein snacks during the day as I expend a lot of energy on the job.

I like a hard boiled egg - 80 cals - as a snack. I precook my eggs for the week and peel one every morning.

I have to eat it while driving, in a car full of sand, hair, and dogs. I tend to throw it in my mouth whole and have a water handy to wash it down after a lot of chewing.

My preferred eating method would be to slice it and eat the slices on tomato slices but that's just not practical in the car.

I also eat a packet of turkey (100 cals) just with cucumber slices as "crackers". I know the turkey is processed food and not the best thing but it's handy, ready to go, and it is protein.

Dagmar (speed snacker extraordinaire )

Never thought about the packaged turkey or ham as a snack....hmmm...maybe part of a package with some string cheese? Might be good!!!

I boil eggs for the week too, Dagmar. A great filling snack. And I love turkey out-of-hand, maybe with some cheese. To me snacks are not sweet; dessert is sweet.
