  • I think the hardest part of any diet is staying focused. I never realized who difficult and time consuming it would be!

    Have a great vacation!

    Marcie
  • Marcie:
I am just doing alot of thinking this weekend about what I want to do about my eating, I think I have to finally admit that I need some kind of change, what kind of change I don't know.
I know I need a more balanced eating plan than LAWL offers.
I just was so disappointed this time sticking to the plan well and not have any lose to show for it.
Shychick I hope you are doing well and have a nice vacation.
    Diane
  • Maybe after doing LAWL for so long your body is so accustomed to it that it will no longer work for weight loss??!? I do not know. Maybe you just need a metabolic shake up!

Have you thought about trying something different? What have you considered?

I tried weight watchers, and liked it, but at the time I was really not in the right frame of mind for it. I know it would had worked for me if I tried harder. I was going through a terrible binging stage at the time.
  • Good morning ladies,

...and welcome back Jibbelle. It's good to see the board picking up again. Diane & I were holding the board up for a while. Anyway, I've been reading your post(s) this morning and that's a real strick plan. Major encouragement goes out to you, I'm like Diane and don't believe I could do it, specially being married and cooking for my DH every night. I do wish you the best and with doctor's supervision you should do just fine.

Diane-I'm almost finish with the book, Body for life but I'm actually starting the program today. Fustration has set in and I need a quick fix to get my motivation back. It's real strick for the first 6 days of each week and then that 7th day (and you chose which one will be #7) eat what you want, Mcdonalds, pizza hut, you name it, you can eat it. At the grocery store this weekend I was able to pick-up there meal replacement shake. It's used as an in-between meals snack, but to me it has a lot of calories but if you follow the exercise plan (which will not be easy for me), it's more weight training (WT) and very little cardio, you should be OK. Today, I did 45 minutes of WT and 30 minutes of cardio (which I should not have done. The basis of the exercise is 3 days of WT only, lower & upper body alternates and 2 days of cardio only 20 minutes.

I believe if you follow the diet plan correctly than you will see the benefits. It's a 12 week program and my goal is to stay focus for 4 weeks. The book claims you should see results in as little as 2 weeks so I'll let you know.

skychick-I hope you have a wonderful vacation and we're looking forward to you getting back to us!

Until later on ladies, have a great and health day!

Jibbelle-Let us know how your day is going.
  • Kimbo-
I have read a lot of great Body for Life success stories on here! Good luck!!

I am on day three and so far so good! I was getting some headaches and my doctor added in a small salad as part of my lunch.

So now my day looks like this:

    breakfast: oatmeal (supplement)
    snack: shake (supplement)
lunch: small salad w/light dressing, soup (supplement), crackers (supplement)
    snack: shake (supplement)
dinner: meat and veggies or salad w/light dressing
    snack: shake (supplement)

SO..as you see, it is quite a bit of food really! Although it is still only around 900 calories. My doctor also told me to add about a teaspoon of fat free sugar free instant pudding powder into the shakes. It only adds about 10 calories and makes them really thick and yummy!!! The banana pudding in vanilla shakes is OH SO YUMMY!

It may be something you guys can try with the LA shakes!!

I can not "weight" to weigh in later this week!!! WOOHOO
  • Jibbelle

The weight should be falling off of you eating that little bit of food! Anyway, good to here you're doing so well. There would be no way you could exercise and eat that way, you would fall out.

Body for life seams to be good, my problem is exercising so little. I really enjoy exercising but I tried to slow down a bit today. Anyway, the daytime is never my problem, it's usually the evening time that get's to me but I'm going to fight it with every inch of my being.

    Anyway, have a great day!
  • I hope the weight will be falling off!!! Will find out Saturday!

My doctor said not to exercise for 3 weeks...then I can slowly work up to 3 workouts a week with a maximum of 45 minutes. That is it for a while.
  • Good afternonn ladies:
So Marcie your liking the plan good for you. You would not really think about exercising with such little calories would you?
I was just thinking how could you, you would probably pass out.
Kimbo, good luck with the new plan. I am a little interested in how you like is food plan on the other six days. The exercise part of it I like doing my videoes to much to follow another exercise plan.
Marcie I definately need to change, I have fooled around with WW but not really have done it. I bought a week of Jenny Craig food but I could not see myself spending 90-100 a week in food.
I have not binged for quite a while so maybe I will be able to work with WW much better. I was still going to the meetings and this week I got the point booster I think this will help me alot, I went by the exercise I did today I am able to add 8pts to my day. I am thinking this is why I have always felt hungry trying to stick to my pt. range and always ended up cheating.
So besides the headaches to you feeling hungry?
    Diane
  • I have not had any headaches today, and not hungry. I think I may have been hungry this weekend because I was at home, bored, and thinking about food. : )

So far today, all is great! I am having my afternoon chocolate shake now!

I have all the weight watcher stuff from when I tried the program...if you want it, I would be more than happy to send it your way.
  • Marcie:
Thanks but I have plenty, I have not seen anyone lately looking for info but once in a while there is some one looking the info who does not want to go join.
Today was a good day for me, maybe knowing those extra points are there let some of the pressure off. And I did not even use them.
So can you have any type of protein or do you have to watch which ones you have?
    Diane
  • Pretty much any lean protein...no fatty hunk of beef or anything...
the list is pretty inclusive actually. No processed meats on there, sausage, bacon, deli meats, but everything else really.
  • Good morning ladies,

It's good to see the board being more active. Marcie, where have you been? You're the missing link to our small group here!

Yesterday was a good eating day. I stayed on plan all day and even the evening, no mess-ups, so I'm proud about that. I had a terrible headache yesterday and this morning but I pressed through it and had a great workout this morning. 65 minutes of cardio and a little ab work. It really helps to jump start my day but I'm usually worn down by 2/3 this afternoon and I'm fighting to keep my eyes open. It was a little harder this morning to get up; my hubby’s father fell off a latter yesterday and broke his arm. My husband was kinda worried but he felt better after going to the hospital to see him, which I knew he would. Him mom died on the 17th of this month (9 yrs ago), one day after his birthday so I know all that was on his mind when we received the call last night. It was after 11 when he got in, he gets up at 3:15A & I get up at 4A, so that's pretty early.

Anyway, I'll try to hang in there for the rest of the day, so l'll check back a little later.

    K
  • Sounds like he was lucky to just have a broken arm! Could have been much worse!

It is sooo nice to be back. I am really committed to losing this weight, especially since my wedding dress is 3 sizes too small!! What more motivation do I need????
  • That's right Marcie,

I know you can do it! You've made it through the first couple of days, which I believe is the hardest and once you go and weigh in this week it will really motivate you!

It's not often that I have a boring spell on my job but at this point that's how it is and I'm loving it. My boss is using my a database that I normally use so I haven't been able to use it all morning. I'm to glad about it.

Anyway, my F-I-L broke his arm in 2 places and will be seeing a bone specialist today. He does seams to be feeling OK.

    Diane-how's your plan going?
  • I LOVE it when things get slow at work....it doesnt happen often but when it does it is great! I usually take the time to clean off my desk and unbury myself!
