Yes, I believe planning out your day
in advance is the way to go. That's what I do and have been doing for well over 2 years now.

It's just some days I may not feel like eating the foods I had "planned" for that day.
At this point, I have many different ideas/options for breakfast, lunch, dinners and snacks, all about equal calories. Easy to eat this one or that one, according to what I'm in the mood for. As you get further into the process, you will see what "works" for you and what doesn't. What foods you are satisfied with - and which ones that you aren't.

I think my problem is that I can get OCD with counting either one
As far as obsessing about calories, don't think of it in that manner. I like to think of it as that I am
aware of my calories. I eat
mindfully. And that I need to
monitor them in order to keep to a healthy weight. Makes it seem a whole lot less "cuckoo" and downright
necessary. Because I truly believe that keeping track, carefully monitoring ones food intake is essential to living a healthier and hopefully happier life. Doesn't seem so OCD when you balance your checkbook, does it? Our food intake is just as important, if not more so.
Give yourself some time for your food choices to evolve and for you to get more into the planning and healthy eating.
