spaghetti squash

  • I have heard of this spaghetti squash but I was wondering if it is any good, what exactly is it, and where on earth can I find it? Wal-mart??
  • I enjoy it. You can have lots of it for very very few calories. It doesn't have much taste, so it takes on the taste of whatever you flavor it with. It is a large yellow oblong squash. I can find it at the Walmart Supercenters here with no problem.

  • It's a winter squash, so find it in a grocery store by the pumpkins. Chop in half with a big knife or a hatchet, remove seeds, and bake in the oven for an hour or until soft. Scrape out the 'strands' and use as spaghetti. Really nice, and you don't feel like 'Diet Weirdo' while you eat it and your family has noodles.
  • ahhh!! I had no idea!! Thank you! I am going to try it , if I can find it! all the grocery stores in my town are dreadful!
  • And if you can't find in stores, try growing it. Squash grows great in Missouri, and with very little effort. I live in town and grew a squash plant in a large flowerpot on my deck last year. The vine grew long the deck railing and I ended up with several nice sized squash. Yummy!
  • It's quite yummy, definitely give it a try!
  • Hi... here's some more info... hope it helps

  • There are some really good recipes for it on allrecipes.com. You can season and flavor it just like spaghetti, and since it's a veggie, you'll have none of the guilt. I love spaghetti squash - I think it will be one of next week's dinners.
