Default Exercise chit chat for 1-22 to 1-28

Ok ladies, alot of us have been here OP since the beginning of the year or have returned from being a previous member. Now that we have the basics down pat, we all should be at a point where we can add in atleast 30 mins of some forum of exercise a day. This will help us and it will definately make you feel better both mentall and physically. So lets all throw out some ideas of some forum of exercise that we could all benefit from. Everyone doesn't have access to a treadmill or fitness room so what about lets toss out some ideas that could help us all in getting that 30 mins atelast in a day:

1. Park your car in the parking space farthest from the store to get those extra steps in.

2. Walk up the stairs instead of the elevator...

3. Get out daily and take a walk, start off by walking to the end of your road, then each day add another block to it until you make it all the way around or atleast 1 mile, add distance to that as you feel comfortable.

Come on ladies lets list more to help those who maybe alittle exercise challenged!!

If you are at work and can stand instead of sit, do it to help the blood flow in your muscles and then sit again. Make sure you stretch a bit if sitting at a chair all day.

On breaks go WALK! Eat at your desk and then walk on you real lunch break.

Go to the farther restroom, this will increase blood flow- just by getting in a few extra steps.

I walk around the mall early on Saturday mornings and look at all the clothes in the windows of the high-end women's clothing stores for inspiration. A lot of malls open up their common areas for walkers.

I've had good luck trying to see how high I can get my pedometer count. It's amazing what you can find when you're counting!

I'm not very good at this one since I pretty much only use the gym every day.

But you can do step aerobics on your stairs at home. Up down, up down, up down to music or watching TV or whatever. Steps are a killer -- they make me out of breath quickly.

Would you guys like a walking challenge? I had one in mind - but it requires a step counter... I have found one as low as $5 - nothing fancy... maybe you even have one... Let me know - I can get it together if you like.

(BTW: No hard feelings if not)

Daisy,

I get my cortisone shot on Thursday. If it works & I can walk without pain, I'll take you up on your walking challenge.

I might be in. I will have to buy a step counter. I do a lot of walking at school. The only problem I will have is walking when I get home. My husband and I work opposite shifts and I have a 6 year old. The weather right now is too cold for him to be out walking with me.

I like going to the gym. It gives me an hour to myself. But another suggestion is dancing. My kids and I love to turn the music up and dance like crazy. And it does wear me out!

That is a good idea. My son and I love to dance around like crazy. We close the blinds and shake our butts.

Leslie Sansone's walk away the pounds is good for indoors. Can start at 1 mile and build up to 3 in no time. Kids can join in. I'm up for the challenge as soon as I change the batteries in my step counter (pedometer).

I have to tell you - if you get one of the Wiggles videos and do what they do - you WILL get one heck of a workout! LOL...

BTW - there is a conversion chart for activities other than walking - to add to your step count...

Daisy, I'm in. I walk on the treadmill, but it's still walking. I can find that pedometer in my drawer at home.

Today I did 35 minutes on the treadmill, 15 minutes on the elliptical and 15 minutes of strength training -- seated row, lat pull down, chest press, shoulder raise and ab crunches on the ball.
