Ok - have we found the secret to marital success or what!!! High School sweethearts all the way!!! by the way - how are you two's husbands on the weight loss thing?
Mine is a totally great guy but he has never had to lose a lb in his life. He just ate a 1/2 lb cheeseburger and fries and onion peels on Sunday and gained muscle!!! He has no idea what I've been through or what I'll go through for the rest of my life but he's never put me down that's for sure. He loves seeing the slimmer me every year as I've worked through this though....lots of wonderful attention which is nice. Anyone else with a husband who has never had to lose a pound?

Anyway - today was an ok day until dinner tonight. Kinda blew it on the meal tonight - a pot pie! They have a lot of calories - but I'm going to go excercise a couple of those calories off tonight. We gave plasma tonight so I kind of blow it on plasma nights because I'm starved by the time we get home. I need to plan for those nights better.

I'm so glad that you're seeing the results Gina! That's the one thing that will keep you going forever. I used to measure myself once every two weeks too. Because all of my clothes fit so differently that just using clothes wasn't a good enough "sign" for me. I had to see the #'s just like on the scale.
There's another question - how often do you gals weigh in?
I'm a daily ---- didn't used to be until this year. But I LOVE it. It has actually helped me maintain my weight better. I don't punish myself for the daily weight fluctuations - especially if I know that I did eat right and that it might just be water weight or muscle changes. But on the truely bad eating nights - the next morning weigh in does tell you that you need to buck up for the next couple of days. It's helped me keep the weeks in check. I never feel like I've "wasted the whole week away" - instead I feel like each day has it's own consequences and I can just start over with a better attitude each day.

Wow, we do have quite a bit in common. My Monday went ok, still raining, I think it's still from Hurricane Dennis. It was dry earlier though and in the 90's here as well, I don't remember if you said where you are or not.

I had a doctor appointment this morning and my official weight loss since since May 25th is 13lbs. My blood pressure is normal also, my first appt it was high.

I also weigh in everyday to see how I am doing. I used to average out the weights for the week and use that as my weekly weight. I started to do that recently and then decided not to. I like looking at the scale every morning and if it's more than 2lbs over my current ticker weight, I am really strict on what I eat for the day.

Hubby - My dh went from being on a ship for 4yrs where he was very active to working in an "shop" where he is not so active. He gained about 40lbs and failed his body fat test because he was 25%, in order to pass you have to be 22% or below. He lost about 30lbs in a month and passed his next body fat at 21%. He doesn't really have to work at losing weight at all. He didn't change anything he was eating but he did start working out in the mornings 3x's a week. I can just imagine how much weight he'd lose if he ate less fatty foods but he isn't interested LOL My dh is not a small guy, right now he's 228lb at 6'3.

As for my weight, DH knows I need to lose weight and has talked to me about it but never told me that LOL He has always told me that he loves me the way that I am but I would look good smaller also. He also knows that weight loss is not just something I can choose to do and knows I need medication and do following a strict sugar/carb limiting plan. However, that does not stop him from asking me if want things, like a cinnamon roll yesterday morning. He doesn't understand how someone can not eat the junk that he eats. I have always ate healthier type stuff but not limited carbs like I should. When I found out about the connection between PCOS and insulin resistance I tried to cut out most things. When I was finally diagnosed with insulin resistance, I started the south beach diet and here I am!

I should be on the compuer this evening, I don't have anything else to do. I think I'll be working on my website and have my IM's on.

Hi Angela and Amanda!

My husband is currently trying to lose weight also. Although, we don't eat the same things, we eat what works for each of us. Exercise goes the same way, we each do what we like. For me its doing my tapes and weights, he goes out and runs and does weights. Then some days we'll go for a brisk walk together, and my son rides his bike, which is nice He is very good about my weight, he always tells me I look good and I'm not fat, but will admit to me being a little chubby if I keep asking LOL Which isn't insulting because it is old news to me. He has never pushed for me to lose weight, but does support my effort and is proud. He has lost around 15 lbs too, and I can really see it on him, he is slimming down and looking good. I didn't eat well today, I probably went well over my limit. But I take it each day at a time, and don't let that ruin everything.

I also weigh myself daily, after I've woken up and go to the ladies room lol. For me it helps to see the numbers, and as you both have said, if its up a little its like a little reminder to do well and stick to my guns. I danced around while doing some housework earlier to burn some extra calories Then just a little while ago I did my WATP tape and my weights. I only did the 1 mile tape because I'm lacking in energy today, but something is better than nothing I say

Way to go with your appointment Angela!! That is great news. Hubby is supposed to be watching a movie with me tonight, so I should be popping off and on AIM tonight at some point. I usually come on and off depending on what I'm doing around the house or if I am out etc. So I will talk to you ladies soon Oh yeah, in case I never mentioned, I am from Pennsylvania.

Hey gals!
Not a ton new here today on the weight front. The signature weight tracker thing here doesn't let you count the 1/2 lb losses but I have gone from 154.5 to the solid 154. I've hit 154 before but never ever gotten below it - hoping to do that sometime soon. It's been rainy here so I'm worried to take my usual 2 mile walk and get stuck getting drenched - so i'll do my elliptical tonight.
My exciting news is that I talked with the local University today and I'm meeting with an advisor next monday. I guess that I'm finally going to go back to school. I'm really nervous about it. I'm 26 and just now deciding that I think I'm ready. I started to go right out of high school two different times (even had scholarships and everything) but I dropped out. It just didn't feel right and I didn't know what I was doing with my life. I think I'm ready now
Anyway - I hope that both of you had a wonderful day!

Lots of support - Amanda

Hey Amanda,

Congrats on getting to 154, I'm sure you will go below it The lowest I ever got down to when trying to lose weight was 149 and it makes me wanna smack myself that I gained so much weight. My hubby was in the military and he was overseas for 1 year, and I wanted to look great when he got back, so I did really well with losing weight. Unfortunately, when he got back we celebrated with food and I got comfortable again and gained. Back when I lost that I started at around 175 or so and made it down to the 149. This time I was at my all time high of 203, and currently at 188, so it stinks I have farther to go, but I'm not giving up!

Ironically, him being gone and coming back made me want to look good when we saw each other again. Last year in August, he was to be reactivated and sent to Iraq, due to medical reasons he was able to get out of it, but it took us 7 months to find that out, so all that time we were left waiting wondering whether or not he was going to go, which was a terrifying thought, so I wasn't in best spirits for most of that time, so I ended up eating a lot and how I ended up at 203. Luckily, that is behind us now.

As for today, I did well with my eating for most of the day until we went out to eat. I didn't pick something totally terrible, but it wasn't the healthiest choice either lol. I find its hard around certain times of the month and I usually have cravings for junk! lol Congrats on going back to school, that is wonderful news I bet you will do great!!

Now that I have rambled forever, I will end this hehehe. Talk to you soon

Couldn't find this thread LOL forgot the name of it.

Amanda- Congrats on going back to school!!! I am 27 and still haven't gone back but I am busy being a mom so that isn't right for me now.

Gina- I know what you mean about wanting to look good for when they come home. I was able to do that once, got down to about the weight I am now.

I don't think I have ever been below 175 except before I got married. I am going to try and not get stuck again at that weight like I did at 178.

Do either of you have a lot of excess skin? My clothes would fit so much better if I didn't have all this skin, would be about 10-15lbs lighter I think too. DH and I have talked about me getting a tummy tuck but I have to wait until I am done losing weight and having kids, I don't think that will be for a long while

Its great to be able to wake up and be ready to go first thing in the morning. i am also going to start watching what i eat, someone told me yesterday to watch calories, increase protein, and stay clear from soy products and that is a good thing to know cause i love my chinese food (lol)

Hi Angela,

Glad you found the thread lol. I don't have any excess skin right now, I just might if I lose all the weight that I want to though lol. I've been a bit off track the past couple days, I've just felt so hungry. Normally in the time leading up to the arrival of my "friend", I get some cravings...but I'm thinking since I don't indulge as much as I used to, I am having worse cravings now lol. I will be getting back on track today though, can only give in for so long until the weight starts creepin back lol. How is everything going for you?

Gruno: Welcome to the board I am not a diet specialist, so I can only tell you what works for me. I watch my calories daily and keep them within a certain range (calorie counting). I have cut back on my portions, and I do not freely eat as much junk as I used to. I try to make healthier choices everyday, instead of snacking on chips I will have carrots...instead of having some oreos I will have a low cal treat, such as those 100 cal cookie packs etc. I do not deprive myself of everything, because for me that is a road to failure, I simply can't make it if I don't ever get anything that I want. Instead I occasionaly give in to a craving or treat myself, without going overboard and still watching how much I'm eating and usually fit it into my daily count. I believe moderation is key for me. I also am trying to get more activity into my days, through either walking outdoors or doing some walking tapes I have for inside, along with some work with weights.

As you will read on these boards, everyone does all kinds of different plans or methods, but what works for them may not work for me or you, and vice versa. My advice would be to really look at what you're eating, and cut back on some of the not so good stuff, and try to include some healthier choices. There is lots of information and advice available through theses boards alone, not to mention other sites or books etc. I am sure with time you will find what works for you, it may take some trial and error...because this isn't my first attempt at losing weight, but it is my first time I feel truly confident that I will succeed It couldn't hurt to ask your doc for some advice or tips either. Again, welcome to the boards and everyone is here to support you!

Well, gals I didn't want to post yesterday in case it was a fluke but I hit it!!!!
153!!!
The least I've weighed in since highschool!!!
I'm so excited. I wanted to make sure it wasn't a water weight thing and that today I would be back up - but nope - it was real!
Seeing the #'s moving has helped me to keep sticking to watching my food though. I'm worried though cause my friendly time of the month is coming at the end of the month too and I don't want to give in then to stress cravings. I get true PRE-men symptoms. I'm fine while my period is going but it's before that gets me. I'll eat anything insight hoping it will keep my mouth full so that I don't go off at the mouth!!!

Anyway - I'm going to be positive and hope that maybe this weight loss will keep me a little happier this month. I ended up walking in the rain tonight - got caught in it I should say. KInda fun though because I jogged the last part and didn't end up panting too hard - guess it helped me realize that I can jog and not die!!!
hee hee

Girls keep it up - I wanna hear awesome stories from everyone! I hope everyone's families are doing well too!

Gruno : I'm hypothyroid too and yes - medicine helps tons - how old are you is you don't mind me asking? Just remember that the medicine is the first step to energy renewal - use this "boost" you feel now to jump start whatever program you decide to follow diet wise - If you do that you'll consistantly feel like you have progres. Trust me on this one - I've been hypothyroid since birth. It's not just medicine that will make you feel good - it's changing your way of life both diet and exercise wise too!!!
Let me know if you have any questions - I'm no doctor either but I've been through a lot with the hypothyroid so I'm probably know something.

Lots of encouragement and good thoughts to you gals!!!

Hi Ladies

Also happily married with a baby boy who's a year and a half and I am 25 years old. My biggest downfall is overeating - I already eat healthy food, but just way too much of it! Just started my new way of living last Monday with counting calories. I was already walking every weekday morning, but now I have implemented Tae Bo videos as well. I have about 50 lbs to lose - it seems a bit overwhelming, but out of all the times I have started or stopped a diet, I have never been this mentally prepared or willing to do the work it takes!

Congrats on all your success big or small!

Melanie - Nice to have you join! Yet another account of marriage success - yeah!
We're all here for the same reasons so welcome! I've loved this post because these gals actually keep coming back to post and it's nice to see some dedicated "internet buddies". I've posted on this site before during one of my previous low points in weight loss and sometimes you can't count on people to keep posting - but these gals are great!!!! Plus we all seem to have some common factors so it's nice to talk.
You can read through this post and tell a lot about us so you'll have to fill us in. Sounds like we've got a band of little boys running between us all too

Today was an ok day for me. I wanted to eat a lot when I got home tonight but came in here to the computer instead! Thank goodness - I feel like eating the whole kitchen. I can tell already tonight is one of those nights that the fridge and pantry will be calling my name.
My downfall is overeating too. I'm really good at resisting bad snacks all day but at each meal time I could just eat and eat if I wanted to. I'm also a food sneaker....anyone else do that? I actually hate to admit it but I guess if I'm ever going to get over and change myself I have to start being honest. I sneak bites when my husband isn't looking - not because he's ever made me feel bad but because it makes me feel bad. Geez - talk about stupid self - punishment

Gruno - Hey girl - you sound like you need some cheering up! Remember that stress and attitude have been proven factors in weight. Hang around with us gals and we'll all get through this.

So who's got a sucess story for the day? I really need to hear that someone did awesome with something - even if it was just that they didn't finishe their son's left half of a pop tart

Lots of encouragement - AManda
