4 years ago I was in the best shape of my life, feeling healthy and fit. Then, Hashimotos took over and ultimately I had Thyroid Cancer and a complete thyroidectomy about a year and a half ago. I finished radiation about 4 months ago. I gained 80 lbs during my battle with my thyroid, 60 if it prior to being diagnosed.
For a very long time (years) I tried to fight the weight gain and about 5 months ago I resigned myself to being heavy forever. In the last weeks, I have learned I have tumors in my kidney and liver, and that my liver has become 'fatty'. It really lit a fire in me, knowing that anything can and will happen and I have to keep fighting for my health, so here I am. I'm lost, I have no idea where to start. I bought a treadmill and downloaded my fitness pal... and I guess I started today with that. Now what?

Well, congratulations on beating cancer! I also have a fatty liver that I need to get serious about. I have a lot more weight to lose than you, I am using the Carbohydrate's Addict Diet. I definitely have issues with carbs. Yours is likely due to your decreased metabolism related to your thyroid, so, I'm not sure if you have a carb problem or not.
