Default New here..tired of being fat and unhealthy

Hello to all. I joined to gain support, find information, and basically find people that are in a similiar situation to mine. Like many of you out there, I have tried several different diets and miracle pills, but none have seemed to work.
SOOO..this time around I am looking for advice..suggestions...tips. I am tired of listening to the doctor tell me that by simply getting more exercise and eating "right" I will be able to lose the weight. Well sorry...that doesn't work perfectly for everyone. I am fighting depression, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and serious hormone problems (seem to be undiagnoseable). I have two boys..1, and 4. I also seem to be fighting a serious case of the lazies lately....damn Seattle rain. I also tend to be an emotional eater....this seems to be my downfall every single time...depression and a not so happy relationship.

I am tired of being FAT! I want to remember what it is like to look in the mirror and not be grossed out by what I see.

Starting slow...watching calories, increasing water, increasing veggies and fruits, decreasing chocolate OTHER SUGGESTIONS WELCOME!!!

I also would like suggestions about how to do the Atkins diet. I have trouble finding proteins that are not super high in calories...besides good ol chicken. I get bored with chicken.

Glad you are here!

There are a lot of different boards on here that you might like. There is a calorie counters board, as well as an atkins/low carb one.

Also, for the emotional eating, the Chicks in Control might be a good place for you. I am an emotional eater too (a binger, I just discovered), and that part of this site has helped me SO MUCH.

Ok, welcome again, and wish you the best of luck!!!!!

Welcome =) If you're considering Atkins there's actually a very informative area on the site where people are living the plan!

Losing weight is both as "easy" as eat less/move more. And sooooo much more complicated than that. Every single person on this site can attest to it!

Small steps add up to big results. You can do this!

Welcome, Sarah! I envy you, living in Everett. I used to live on Whidbey Island, and I LOVED it there! Now I'm in the Midwest (love it here, too).

I'm new here, too, and I think we're in the right place. If we want information and support, we're sure to find it here.

I've also suffered from depression and binge eating. For me, eliminating sugar & processed carbs - plus exercise - was more effective than the antidepressants I took. Maybe you'll have the same results with Atkins (I used South Beach, somewhat similar).

You can do it! Let's do it together.
