Default I'm a newbie! I'm in need of some major support!

Hello everyone! My name is Rebecca. I am 24 years old. I am only 5 feet tall but I weight 160 pounds. Growing up I was only 100 pounds soaking wet. But once I graduated from high school, I started putting on weight. So here I am... 6 years out of high school and I've gained 60 pounds. Growing up I could eat whatever I wanted and never gain an ounce. Therefore, I didn't really learn how to eat healthy and exercise on a regular basis. This is my problem now! I am currently trying to educate myself on how to lead a healthier lifestyle. My goal is to loose 45pounds, which would put me at 115pounds. I just want to be healthy! I joined this site in hopes that some of you all could help to keep me motivated and to get some good tips. I look forward to making some new friends and helping to keep each other motivated in order to reach our goals!

I had the same exact situation! I had always been thin and ate whatever I wanted. Then I got office jobs and packed on the pounds!
Welcome, it's a very useful and supportive group of people here.

Hi Rebecca!
Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated, inspired and entertained!

There are bunches of people here with more to lose and some with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here a short time myself, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of cheating or giving up.

So welcome - you 've found the right place - join in by inspiring us and being inspired!

Hi RebeccaT, new as well, and am finding this the best website for motivation and best of, distraction, when I want to eat I just log on! Isn't the internet great?

Same as you, never been taught how to eat, just ate whatever I wanted, then the larger I got, the more depressed I got, and that turned into comfort eating! Sheesh. As a result, I try to teach my boys about treat foods and try not to reward them with food!

I've been wondering if eating can be an addiction like smoking is? With that theory in mind, have been trying to wean myself off overeating by delaying, distracting, and drinking water.

Good luck and good will power! Look forward to seeing you more and watching your weight go down as mine does.
