Default Hello :)

Hi everybody. I've been lurking for a little while and finally decided to join.

My name is Sara Beth, i'm 27 and live in Western North Carolina.

I've always been overweight, but in the recent years I stumbled over "overweight" and dove head first into "mortally obese". I've had a strange past 2 years. I'm now going through a divorce, and now that the fog is clearing i'm looking around and I'm shocked. When did I get THIS big? Did it happen overnight? Where have I been? I'm now fatter than I've ever been. I've decided I could just sit around and be in denial about it, or be pro-active about it and use this as a time to get my body/mind and spirit back in control. I've having a hard time getting started, but I know I have to do it this time.

It's not about my divorce, it's not about being trendy, it's not about anything other than my desire to look back at this and realize that I do care about myself enough to do something good for myself.

I look forward to getting to know you ladies.

What is a fat smash diet? I've not heard of it.
Nice to meet you!

Right now i'm just trying to find the energy and motivation to add exercise into my mix. I work at a job where I am on my feet 8-10 hours a day, on concrete floors. Sometimes I am standing in one spot, but more often than not, I am walking from one end of my store to the next (and back. and again. and again).
I'm done making excuses though. It's not ENOUGH.

As far as diet goes, I have been considering weight watchers. Right now i'm trying to get my portion sizes under control, staying away from carbs, and eliminating diet soda altogether. (I don't like caffeine and am a bit scared of aspartame so it's got several benefits here...) I'm trying in incorporate more fresh food and less processed garbage into my diet too. It's so hard though working 50 hours a week (schedule varies) and trying to make time for healthy eating.

How do you people do it?!

Welcome, Sara Beth!

Don't try to do it all at once! That can be overwhelming, and often causes us to give up. Start with small changes in your lifestyle and work your way up!
