Allow myself to introduce.....myself.
Hello one and all.
My darling wife has convinced me that there are indeed other men on this site as well women...so I don't feel quite as odd joining.
My basic story is that I've been an obese roly poly my entire life, save for a few years during my late teens that I starved myself into submisson. I went from 280 at 15 years old, to 160 at 16. Granted, it was an idiotic way to lose weight, and of course it didn't stay off. But boy I sure looked nifty for awhile.
Anyhoot..skip to present day. I'm down to 258lbs from 320 in January, and fighting to avoid the "plateau" that I dread so much. Most days I hit the gym once, and try to walk at least 8 miles, and jog for 1 of those miles. Well, I say jog...it's more like a fast waddle. But it's MY fast waddle darn it..and I'll call it jogging. Other than that, my diet has gone from anything and everything, to eggs and wheat toast in the morning with fruit, a salad and homemade protein shake in the afternoon, and anything else remotely healthy in small portions before 6pm usually. I do allow myself the option to go ballistic one day during the weekend, but I've found that my stomach has shrunk to the point that eating large amounts of junk food isn't at all appealing. Also, I feel noticeably disgusting after a few minutes in junkfood land....enough to where I don't really eat all that much junk, even on off days.
All in all......I feel good. There are times I go to work out and I have zip amount of energy..and that's frustrating as heck. But my wife and I are shedding pounds together and turning our eating habits completely around...and that is a wonderful place to be.
And that...is my first post on this uniquely lavender website. Peace all...
Brett
