Default Newbie from Kentucky

Just looking around the site felt it was a great place to start with online support.

In it for the long haul looking to lose 93 pounds. Started today with the counting points and water, water and more water.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Also, My husband and son are doing this with me, it does help to have their support. My husband is looking to lose about 40 pounds and my son 15-20.

Chicken - My husband loves fried, hates grilled or baked, any suggestions on how to make some healthy tasty chicken for someone like this?

Hey, sugarinky!

It's kind of slow here on weekends, but I thought I'd say hey. It is really great that your family wants to go on a program with you! Lots of people in the support forum talk about how hard it can be if they don't.

About the chicken--well, there is always sauteeing rather than frying--it's almost like frying but without all the fat. Or, you can also use a nonstick frypan and spray it with PAM, and perhaps add a little tiny bit of olive oil and a little tiny bit of butter. By "little tiny" I mean a teaspoon or two of each. I don't use the points system, so I don't know whether that's allowed. Then use boneless, skinless breasts, cut lengthwise in half (they cook faster that way). You could also rub some garlic inside the pan for a little extra flavor if you like garlic. Anyway, that's worth a try. To me it still tastes good.

Water is good for flushing out the system--8 to 10 8-oz. glasses per day is the usual amount. Some people think that's more than necessary, though.

Good luck to you!
Jay

Thank J I'll give those a try. Yes on the point system you are allowed to eat whatever you like, you just have to count the points and stay within your point limit. Tonight for dinner I had Talapia stuffed with spiniach, steamed brocolli and a baby spring salad with fat free italian dressing - total points 4 (i'm allowed 10 per meal am on a 30 point a day system). I'm stuffed and it was really good. I'm not as concerned with me staying on the right track, and I've had 11 bottles of water today (i do the bottles easier to keep track of) But thank you for the chicken ideas i'll certainly give them a try.

Hi Miss sugarinky! I'm in the ol KY, too. Nice to see you new to the board, like me as well.

Hopefully we can catch each other and be some support in the next coming weeks
