Default Killer Headache!

I got a headache yesterday afternoon and it will not go away.. I took today off work and have been eating Tylenol (not extreme but a lot), I am guessing this is part of the detoxing.. today is day 5..any suggestions to help the headache?

Make sure you are adding the salt to your food everyday. Since being OP I sometimes add a little salt to a glass of water and drink it real quick, that has helped my headache. Good luck

I personally didn't have this issue, and am wondering if you've phased off caffine. If not, then it sounds like what most people describe as part of the "detox." Suggestions for that have included having extra water, an extra packet, or the salt in water trick (the one time I had a woozy feeling, I added a little Mio to a small glass of water with a good shake of salt, and gulped it down.).

Good luck! Hope you feel better soon!!

Definitely try the salt thing. It helps the most with my headaches, and make sure you're drinking enough water. I also find if I'm using too much artificial sweetner that that leads to increased headaches.

I had a crazy headache the first week... thought I was getting my migraines back (which I hadn't had since college)... I am not sure what was happening, because I was still having my coffee in the AM for the caffine.. It went away after day 7...just one day I woke up and poof it was gone..

Like others said, I would drink lots of water and relax. I just added more sea salt to my meals.. couldn't stomach the salt water..

Hope you feel better soon

My worst headaches were day 4 & 5, so maybe you will wake up tomorrow and it will be gone. Salt & lots of H2O today!

I think headaches are a common symptom when adapting to ketosis. I had them for the first 2 weeks or so, and then they stopped. Drinking salt water seemed to help.

For the record, I very rarely drink caffeine, so I know it wasn't caffeine withdrawal.

alternate Tylenol with Advil please, and dont exceed the bottles recommended doses...and drink lots of water...ensure you have your salt...and try using a cold compress on your forhead or back of neck (reduces vasodilation in your noggin, sometimes that helps more than anything else)...

hope you feel better soon

Hi I noticed you are in Ontario. I am in southwest Ontario and because of the weather started getting massive headache about the same time as you continuing today and am downing a bunch of Advil which is not helping. Just a note that I am not on IP, just thought I would post as you could possibly be near me and the weather is not great for headaches right now.

Had bad headache on the 3rd day but then it cleared. Drinking a cup of coffee/tea (caffeine) can also sometimes help a headache.

I just tried this and seems to be working. Hope it doesn't come back. Will see what tomorrow brings.

This has nothing to do with detox. Your brain normally runs on carbs. It is the only organ that actually needs a certain amount of carbs to function. When you go into ketosis, you force it to run on ketone bodies. For that to occur efficiently, your body needs about three weeks to switch. Very low carb diets have been introduced originally to cure/combat childhood epilepsy. So, you can see that ketosis may have some significant effect on how brain cells work. It will pass in a couple of days. Taking all the salt seems to help.
