Default Nuvaring and IP?

My Dr gave me the Nuvaring today and I am wondering how that will affect my IP.

Does anyone have any experience using Nuvaring while doing IP?

I was on Nuvaring my entire time on IP. I had no issues with it. If you really don't want to get pregnant it might be wise to use a secondary form of birth control because hormonal ones can become less effective.

It's just temporary, I am getting a Mirena put in next month.

Definitely don't want to get pregnant, I am done having kids!

Hi Jodi - I have a Mirena. Mine was due to expire in January of next year - but the IP diet kickstarted the fail process, and I had to have it replaced 2 months ago. Apparently I was detoxing everywhere, including my birth control!

And just to let you know, when I had it put in the first time I never went through that period of time where your body adjusts and you experience breakthrough bleeding - they put it in, I immediately didn't have a period for 6 years. When they put this one in, I've been going through that ever since. I even had a week where I didn't lose one pound and gained half an inch in my chest. Ugh. Not sure if it has something to do with the diet or what, but thought I'd give you a warning ;-)

I have been on the nuvaring for years and have had amazing success with it...literally went from 7-9 day periods to 2 days of very light flow. With that, I have been on this diet for two months and both months I started 2 days early and it lasted 7 days...UGH!!! I have an appt with my OB in the next couple of weeks and I will ask about it. I love my nuva ring, so I hope that I don't have to change...

Oh how I feel for all of you younger women. Nice not to have to deal and worry about that anymore. My mother had seven kids - she came across a cartoon once about children being and STD. It was too funny. She had in on the fridge for years she loved it so much. Menopause - best damn thing that ever happened to me!!!!

Ugh! I am really worried now, I thought the Mirena would be fool proof. The Nuvaring is awesome, but my coach said she thought it wouldn't be a guaranteed thing since I am on IP.

We can't use condoms due to allergies, and I don't think my husband would appreciate it if I told him we couldn't have sex until this diet was done. Especially since I could be on it for at least 6+ months.

Hmmm I have the Mirena too. I NEVER thought about IP affecting my birth control. Yikes.
