S/C/G: 200 / ticker / 135

Default 55 pounds gone since freshman year

Seeing 200 on the scale was unpleasant for me freshman year of college. i was afraid of going over that soon enough. I'd been chubby all my life - not very active, not eating a very healthy diet - but I was actually losing weight when I tried (eating better, working out.) It was as if I realized I didn't have faulty machinery after all.

I didn't set a goal weight at that point, because I was just getting as far away from 200 as I could, but somewhere along the six-ish years between then and now, I set the goal of 145 pounds. My "wait and see" goal (a point to go from.)

And now I reached it! Here are a couple of before and after pictures (sorry for the shoddy face-coverup.)

Fantastic! Woohoo!

I totally understand that "faulty machinery" feeling. I secretly felt like there wouldn't be any point if I even tried to eat right and exercise - I was "made" to be fat or something. Not quite sure where that thought process came from!

Definitely! I think I had made peace with my lifestyle at that point, since I'd been living that way my whole life. I was just like "this is the way it is," but I guess hitting 200 made me realize it wasn't a case of "it is what it is" because I was actually getting heavier.

Totally! I convinced myself that my "set point" had changed since having children, but like you, I kept getting heavier so that was false.
