I'm a fan of Lands End. I like "parka" style coats which means they go down below your butt. I have two Lands End coats.

And straight up, you will seriously increase the warmth of your coat it you wear a good scarf. It not only keeps your neck warm, but keeps warm air from chimneying out at your neck.

The other day I went to NYC so I knew I would be walking around outside. So I layered up LOL. long johns, jeans, timberland boots (which I Love) turtleneck , sweater, and I had one of those fleece jackets that look like the north face one except I got mine at Walmart and then I put on the coat that I was talking about in the original post.. I WAS WARM AND TOASTY.
It's all about the layers. It was cold that day I think it was 18°.
