Went to Starbucks with my hubby today, was really feeling their White Chocolate Peppermint Mocca. I don't check the calories on it but I think "how bad can it be", I also grab a Chicken Santa Fe Panini... Long story short, I get home and I start login in my info for the day and it hit me like a ton of bricks!!!!!
410 colories and 59!!!!!! grams of carbs for the coffee and 400 calories and 47g of carbs for the sandwich... Did I mention it was a tall mocca????
things like that really open my eyes to what I had been wasting calories on. I used to have an ice cap a day when I worked at my last job. 300 calories per!

Tell me about it! Many years ago I used to drink their cocconut iced mocca every day. I'm sure it had way more colories.
Go for the skinny peppermint mocha, it is only 100 cals. 130 if you want a grande.
Plus the taste difference is negligable.
That. While it's still not health food, it is a tasty splurge that I can work into my calories for the day. I only have Starbucks about once a month, so the cost isn't a big deal for me.
I fit in my Starbucks. I usually just get a regular coffee with some skim milk; I had their Christmas blend today and it was absolutely divine! If I feel like splurging, I do a skinny cinnamon dolce or since we're in the holidays, the skinny peppermint mocha. No, it's not health food, but it's delicious and it puts pep in my step when I'm draggin' @$$ at work.
Starbucks coffee always tastes burnt and "bleh" to me, and I'd rather eat candy cane flavored Oreos, gingerbread men, or an ice cream sundae than their seasonal drinks...maybe ONE per Christmas season. That usually scratches the itch!
I hardly ever "drink" calories - I don't drink soda or juice on a regular basis. I do have the occasional skinny latte (non fat milk isn't a bad choice) and the occasional glass of red wine*.

If it tastes burnt, you are drinking a darker roast than you enjoy. I like really dark roasts, but next time you are stuck in a Starbucks, try their blonde (lighter) roast instead! You might enjoy it more. Not that I recommend Starbucks over a local place, and I'm sure you have loads of local options in NYC.
My favorite indulgence is the gingerbread latté. Usually that is the one that gets offers as a sugar free syrup, so here's hoping it is the same this year. Skinny, sugar-free. Worth 100 calories to me. Plus I should probably drink more milk.
