Aveeno Advanced Care. It's in the first aid aisle instead of being shelved with the moisturizers. It did wonders for me and for my SIL.

I slather my hands with olive oil and then put on surgical gloves. While I wear them I can sew, type or anything else. After a 1/2 hour, off they come and my hands are beautifully soft without any oiliness on them OR inside the gloves. I wish they made gloves for feet although I could put my feet in a plastic bag and then into socks.

One word: Lotil. It is sold on Amazon.com and also at Vermont Country Store. I believe I read about it here on the board somewhere, but it is the ONLY thing I have used that keeps my thumbs from splitting open. It is amazing.
