Thanks, Gary! It was an awesome game. Canton, being in the farthest stretches of Northern New York in the middle of hockey country, is a tough bunch of girls to beat. They scored their two goals early in the first period and then we kept them from scoring the rest of the game. Our goalie robbed Canton blind on a few goals that really should have gone in. Then, on the power play, our goalie pulled, it would have been great to tie it up and go into overtime, but it didn't happen. It was more fun to watch than a Sabres game!! But then isn't most everything better? Maybe someday soon my daughter will be able to play in a game. The coach told her she could go out for a quick shift if she wanted to, but she said no, she's content with holding the door for now. That's my timid girl. Timid? Or maybe just playing possum with that stick. I can't tell you how this has helped her with her anxiety problems. She still has them, but the exercise from practice has really given her a boost she desperately needed...and she's even dropped a pants size!! Hockey...along with all sports.... Well GOLLY GEE MA...haven't I been telling you that for years?!isn't just about being a great athlete...My point...IMHO I think youth sports are just about the best thing ever!!!
Speaking of the Sabres...TWO WINS IN A ROW!! Let's see if we can make it three tonight and put our losing streak far behind us.
TECH ~ I am so happy for you and your daughter! Just being a part of a team can be very "confidence building"...As I mentioned before...keep those kids busy...keep them doing "STUFF"...find those interests...create your own groups.
Some of....most of...the best days of my life were watching my kids....even on the bench...play sports!
If you aren't already...become an ACTIVE parent!! YOU GO GIRL!(S)
The Bruins/Red Wings game Saturday night was one of the best games I've seen in a while. I'm SO glad DH & I TiVo'd it (we went out). Usually if we miss a game, we just miss it.
Me thinks the world has gone nuts!!! Our GM, Rutherford, has fired Coach Laviolette, and re-hired (at least until the end of the season) Paul Maurice, who Lavi replaced five years ago!!!!!!!!!!!!! With Ron Francis as ASSOCIATE coach (not assistant.) I know things had to be shaken up ... I think the next steps are a new head trainer (we have way too many injuries), and transferring the "C" from Brind 'Amour to Staal. (Love Brindy, but I think his time has passed, and you cannot have two kings.)
Techie, loved the video of your girls! Love to see them playing hockey ...
You know, the only game the Sabres have won in about ten games, our cable provider decided to not show. I'm so disgusted I could spit! I really think its time for Lindy to hit the road. He keeps blaming lack of focus on our players, but a new coach would be such a great thing right now.
I can't believe they fired Laviolette! Personally, I'm glad because I always hated is smug look, but thats because I'm not a fan of the Canes. Maybe if he came to Buffalo... And you guys could have Lindy! Cheap!
techie, you'd be so lucky to get Lavi in Buffalo. He's a LOVELY man, very kind, family-oriented, fans love him here and will miss him. Please don't send Lindy this way; I cannot even bear to look at him! I think it's the mustache ... (and the fact that he beat Lavi out for Coach of the Year when we won the Cup! )
We lost to the Penguins last night, 2-5, and Leighton was awful in goal. We are in big trouble until Cam Ward comes back from his groin injury! To think we have the Flyers and the Caps coming in over the weekend ... probably won't be pretty!
